hey sorry, i didn't see this. i'll try.
once you work w/ the lfos for a while you get a good grasp on what each waveform does.
i have a few bass pgms from nearly a year and a half ago. just a regular chromatic bass patch. i'd left the mpc for bass for a while to use reason, but i came back when i realized how well i could program a bassline using just the mpc.
put a gentle lopass on your bass pgm, like 70 percent with a litttle res.
use the qlink to roll the bass up to another note, so it starts on one note and ends on another. this is like a bassist sliding his fingers.
you can do a similar thing w/ the lfos, but it's more of a small movement. often bassists don't just hit a note, they hit a note and control the resulting string's vibrations. implement a comparatively slow lfo (1.00 give or take) to emulate bending and expression.
esp when it comes to bass, everything doesn't have to be perfectly tuned all the time - the notes should just START that way, then you can go wild. but be subtle, it's easy to get a weird ass cluttered bassline, and then the guitarist throws you out of the band and puts grease in his hair.
