How is 1.51??? Enuff for me to get a 4000

I have the 1k just like u My_Yoot! With a Motif ES 6! So the 4k is the beast to cop? I dont want to spend close to 3 g's for the 4k and AKAI drops a new mpc that is suppose to replace the 4k ya dig! I kno AKAI will have a mpc to replace the 4k dont kno if it will be anytime soon! How many more years does the 4k have until its replaced that's the ?

I think the mpc4k will never be replaced, the market for hardware sequencers like mpc mv and rs7000 is way to small. THe mpc4k isnt a huge commercial succes and Akai isnt doing very well

That's the name of the game, nobody here can predict what Akai or anyone has in store, they can release anything.
Look at the Roland, The Fantom S just came out last year and already there is a Fantom X. You can't do anything about it.
The 4000 is perfect IMO, as is. I don't need another unit. But if a 5000 came out and it had stuff I needed then I would look to sell the 4000 and upgrade. If you sit around and wait for the 5000, you might as well sit around and wait for the 6000, or the Triton Super Extreme, or the rumored "ASR2500" But to try and see the future is imposable, and Akai is tight lipped out what's coming up. Shit we were shocked to see the MPC1000.
Personally I don't think they can top the 4000, but some people like the MV.
Maybe you should just keep what you got. And make that work for you.

I'm using the 4k now - I gave up on the 1k!

You have to buy whatever suits your needs. It's great to get opinions but you have to see for yourself. Take Aprim's adivce when it comes to choosing latest models.

If you wait for new stuff to reach, you'll never buy...cause there's always something new on the fire with these companies. If you do make a move on the 4K, it will be a wise move still.

thats' an interesting perspective. I kind of think something else will happen with more PC like functions

but unless the 1000 saves their ass I can't see akai pro being around to launch it

unless the windsynth market picks up

yeah Im waitin for the day akai goes bankrupt so I can finally cop a 4000. I was gonna buy last friday but something really bad cameup(need lawyer) and now I have no dollar to even buy records HAHAHAHHAHA

damn I was lookin forward to testing the 4000... Oh well maybe next month. I swear this is the worst year in my life ever and its only february.

If Akai went bankrupt, I gotta believe Roland, Korg, or Yamaha would buy them out- just for the intellectual property rights. The MPC crew is way too big to just let those future profits slip away. Korg did it before with Sequential Circuts (Prophet VS>Wavestation)...

hopefully the new company can give us Audition!

Yes U do have pad assignments page. The advantage of this over the MPCPgmMaker pads is that you can assign 4 samples to one pad (just like on the machine itself) & adjust sensitivity etc. What I did like about MPCPgmMaker is that you can audition B4 & after you assign - not like Ak.sys, probably because your feeding the 4k directly as a opposed to creating a program, then exporting.

I'm still running OS9 to continue running Waves plugs (crack) until I get a G5 eventually, then I'll get the Platinum bundle etc. You can download Ak.sys for OSX now - so you're fine.

Any idea when Autotune will B available on OSX?
