Using a Firewire Drive through a SCSI Converter on the MPC

I'm trying to access an external Firewire Drive ( to save my files to ) using a Ratoc Firewire Ultra SCSI Converter ( Model FR1SX ) on the SCSI port on my MPC.

Has anyone every had any experience of doing this and making it work! - everything fits right but the MPC wont see the firewire drive on any of the scsi numbers. It works with a PC or Mac as there were drivers suppiled for the adaptor ( both PC & Mac )

I'm currently using an External SCSI drive on my MPC without problem but need more space and big firewire drives are relatively cheap.

Anyone who can give an help on this would be very much appreiciated...I just hope I havent wasted my money!....

How 'bout; because it's a convertor to see scsi devices from a firewire port and not the other way around. Oh and on top of that it needs drivers as you pointed out. Drives, which AFAIK you won't be able to install on your MPC unless you write your own os.

...so I'm not taking the right approach to it...ok...but is there a way around the problems? Has anyone got a firewire device running with an MPC? does a compatible adapter exist? or is it just not possible?

would be possible to use one of those scsi/firewire convertors for load samples and programs stored in a mac or pc into a scsi harddrive and then disconnect the harddrive from the computer and connect it back into the scsi of the mpc?
