record to the mpc with guitar

my friend has an amp and a acoustic guitar , he wants to make a project with me like next month i jus wanna get ahead so i can know how to record directly to the mpc using record in cables like 1/4 cables running from the mpc record in inputs to somtin on the guitar or amp cuz i dont know nothin bout that stuff ....

what kind of amp is it?

haha. actually i just had the HDR over at a buddies the other night and had him lay down some guitar.

we are gonna put some nice tracks together. i had no idea this kid could play the blues so perfectly nice.

i am just recording him with a condenser mic.

What are you unclear on? Guitar amp to MPC input...
You'll have to put the MPC into record mode and the guitar performance will be saved as a sample.

yea thas what im tryin to do record it as a sample , i know how to do it but i need to know whats comin from the guitar or amp , i dont know what amp my homie has yet but i'll ask ...

if the amp has an out you can use that, or even the headphone jack if you dont want to mic anything. shouldnt be too hard.

you gotta mic the amp, or you're not going to get the sound of the amp. microphone is required

if its got an line out or a headphone jack you can get the sound of the amp....

I have a Line 6 amp and I just use the line out, then use a splitter to get both left and right in the MPC. Then I disconnect the speakers on the amp and listen through the monitors. but it depends on the amp really.

don t take the speaker output of the amp or it ll produce a very black cloud
inside the mpc!!!!!....

The best way would be using a mic and preamp going into the MPC. You can plug a dynamic mic directly into the MPC if you want but you won't get the best sound. Another way would be plugging the guitar in directly through the amp line out. If you want a good recording I recommend getting a good mic and preamp or something like a Line 6 Pod.

When I record live instruments in my MPC I use a Roland MMP-2 (2 ch. digital mic modeling preamp). This plugs in SPDIF and I can use 2 mics at a time if I want.

well im not buyin anythin , but im jus goin to use what u got its all good i can make somthin outta it haha ... but anyways thanks for the advice props to that !
