what up everyone, im 16 years old and i just bought an mpc 2000 from my neighbor for 500$....im very new in the game and i really dont know much about the mp, however i was looking at other mpc 2000 and mines look different, right by the MPC 2000 logo it says "studio"...can anyone tell mw why my model has this logo.....is my model old?

you got a good machine. it's not as easy as the 2000xl, older, but you're still good w/ that b. most peoples i know got the 2000 and they wouldn't switch to the xl. go figure.

good lookin out on the replys....now i just got to figure out how to use it, i got it pluged in to a mixer with my technics turntable and my mixer is connected to a amp.....now i got to play around, i push the pads and it makes no noise...i have no manual and this is the first time i ever touched an mpc.

I read this and I wonder..how can you buy an mpc without knowing even basic information about it ??

Rules to buying anything over a certain amount is to do research on it before you buy it so you know what's up with it. Wouldn't you like to know all you can about something before you buy it?

^ no, i rather buy the mpc first then do the resarch..i know what i got now so ill do the research off what i bought as to looking at all the mpc and getting confused and can not make a decison. its crazy because im getting flamed for buying an mpc...yall know damn well you guys were like me when u just started.

Haha that is kind of ironic: getting flamed for buying an MPC on an MPC forum.

Don't worry bout the negative comments dude. But it is good advice to try and learn as much as you can about something before you purchase it, especially when it comes to beatmaking. Live and learn tho.

Nonetheless if I was in your situation and I was 16 and knew that I wanted to learn how to make beats I would've done the exact same thing. Don't feel bad, feel good to know that you bought a very capable machine that you can learn on and expand on. If you bought it from your neighbor; try asking this person if they can show you a few things on it. Otherwise, I'd def suggest reading the manual and try to go through the different functions as you read through the manual: it allows you to learn the basics and allows you to make sure that all the functions are working properly (make sure your neighbor didn't rip you off).

Most important read the manual. Try things out on your own too: feel free to make mistakes (its the only way to learn). Post questions on the forum if you need help and expect rude and lame comments from people. But there will also be helpful people who will take the time out to offer guidance if you ask.
