Playing MPC samples with a MIDI keyboard?

Peace,

I have an M-audio Ozonic that I want to use to play samples on my 2500. I have connected the MIDI out of the Ozonic to the 1st MIDI IN channel on the MPC, and set the channel correctly, but still can't get a sound. Any advice would be appreciated

Is the MIDI out sent to the 2500? Is it set to receive in Multi Mode on the correct channel?
