Whats better?

What do you guys think would be better to get first? The RAM or the new HD?

I can only afford 1 right now, but the HD's seem to be cheaper than the RAM.

I wonder if i will be able to do enough witht he 16 MB RAM that i have now as long as i clear the memory before i start the project.

What do you guys think?

get 3rd party rame for like $40... AND get a hard drive

i think mine is a kingston? hmmm... sorry i cant be more specific... on my way out the door... search here for 3rd party ram and drives... you can afford both

i assume you have a computer if so i would go with the ram 1st because you can save to your computer harddrive through the usb connection and then pull it back into the 2500 when you want to work on a project or when you finally get the harddrive or larger flash card

i have a 40 gig, and honestly, i haven't filled up but barely 2 gigs in it! had i thought harder, i'd have gotten a 1 gig and just backed up every couple years. we have an ENORMOUS amount of space, even w/ just 10-20 gigs, anything more is gluttany.

Maybe not gluttony. I went to buy a HD today and all I could get was a 60 gig. I hope it works.........one of the techs at Best Buys Geek Squad said it would work. We will see.

I had loads of Akai Format Sample CDs which I copied to my 80 GB, and prob used 40 GB of that through the CDs. Then from samples I have recorded - probably about 1GB at the most Id of thought. So somewhere in there I think I agreed with you At.

I don't know though.......I got a 60gig and for some reason I feel like I should have gotten a 120gig just to be safe.

do you know what model ram i should buy from kingston? should i get a 128 or a 256?

Alot of guys on here have the 256MB ram i'm not sure of the manufacturer, but I guess any 256MB ram that will fit in the MPC should work(I could be wrong about this). Akai recommends only their 128MB ram which is what I am using.
