do you have the mpc close to anything that might have a magnetic field? I've read that it may **** with the zip drive, and sound like it's the click of death. I had the same problem when it was sitting on a cd-rom drive, when I placed it by itself away from the cd-rom drive, it worked fine.

something to consider..

Well, I was only using my Zip, my Mpc, and my headphones at the time so I don't think it was a magnetic thing...

I'm jus a victum of the CLICK OF DEATH!!!

Whats popping
I'm new to this sight but I would like to inform you that after going through about 4 zip drives over the last 7 years I finally broke down and had bruce @ forat modify my 2000 with CF reader. The dope thing about having this installed is the fact that I have 2gb worth of storage space. I spent about a week or so transferring sounds from my old zips. I was mainly concerned about losing drums. I also would like to note that my scsi zip drive ( external) still works as well. I almost sold my 2000, but I use it to control an akai s-950, and emu sp1200 via midi ( SOUND DUMP). LET ME KNOW HOW TO POST PICTURES AND I WILL SHOW YOU THE MODIFICATION! FOR ALL THE NON BELIEVERS WHO THOUGHT YOU COULD ONLY USE AN EXTERNAL CF READER WITH THE CLASSIC MAKAI MPC 2000.

the click of death has nothing to do with magnets like I said its a small bar inside the drive that is supposed to move when a disk is inserted
