WHATS POPPIN
I'M NEW TO THIS FORUM BUT I WANT TO LET ALL MPC2000 CLASSIC HEADS NO WHAT TIME IT IS WITH THE INTERNAL CF CARD READER. AFTER DEBATING WITH MYSELF AS TO WHETHER OR NOT I WANTED TO KEEP MY 2000 OR SELL IT. I FINALLY BROKE DOWN AND HAD IT MODIFIED WITH A INTERNAL CF CARD READER. FOR ALL OF THE NON BELIEVERS IT CAN BE DONE, AND WORKS FLAWLESSLY. I SPENT ABOUT A WEEK STRAIGHT TRANSFERRING SOUND TO MY FLASH CARDS. I HAVE PARTITIONED MY CPMPACT FLASH CARDS A-Z. THIS IS KIND OF LIKE HAVING FOLDERRS LIKE THE XL MODELS. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO NOTE THAT MY SCSI DRIVE STILL WORKS FINE, BUT NOW I HAVE THE OPTION OF HAVING MY SOUND ON ONE CF CARD. I HAVE MAD ZIP DISKS LAYING AROUND, AND IM TIRED OF HAVING MY THE CLICK OF DEATH HAPPEN TO MY SCSI DRIVE. ANYHOW I WOULD LIKE TO POST SOME PICTURES OF MY 2000 W CF DRIVE FOR ALL THOSE HEADS WHO WOULD LIKE TO SEE FOR YOURSELF. I ALWAYS HATED HAVING TO CARRY MY MPC FROM PLACE TO PLACE WITH THE ZIP DRIVE CONNECTED TO THE BACK
THE FUTURE IS NOW.;
PS I WAS TRYING TO GET THE MPC PROGRAM MAKER FOR MAC TO BE ABLE TO TRANSFER SOUND VIA CF ADAPTER HOOKS TO MY COMPUTER. BUT FOR SOME REASON WHEN I PUT THEM INTO MY MPC 2000 IT SAYS THAT IT CANNOT READ OR FIND THE FILE. I HAVE YET TO TRY IT IN MY BRETHREN'S MPC 2000XL.
ONE LOVE!

Yep a card reader is easy to install along with an zip drive. I installed an zip drive in an mpc2000 for a dude. Havent really messed around wit it lately. This damn job just takes over sh*t now. But once i get some free time I'll work on getting the card reader installed in mines and post pics.

In order to install a cf reader you will need to know what you are doing. In order to make it fit you will have to do some heavy modifications. In addition you will have to cut a small piece off fof the actual circuit board. I do not suggest doing this mod youself unless you know exactley what you are doing. You have to have the schematics available, and knowledge of electronics, and soldering. Their is only one type of drive you will be able to use. I had the mod done @ forat by my man bruce. This is the 2nd time he was able to get them to work in the mpc 2000. He was able to install a cf reader into thes one from people under the stairs mpc 3000 as well. I hope you find this very informative
Peace!

This is in response to the person noting how easy it is to install the cf drive. You will mess up your machine if you dont know what you are doing. I wish I had pictures of the inside of my machine. To make a long story short you have to basically rewire the way your mpc recieves the signal from scsi #0. When you have the zip drive connected it reads off of scsi#5. In addition I have two card as you can see from the pictures. This makes it posiible to have two cards each one stores 1gb of data. In addition their is a third slot which will accept a smart media card. I did not buy a smart media card because they only hols a capacity of up to 256mb ( Im not certain). Anyhow their is no need when you have the option of storing a total of 2gb. Oh yeah you will have to format your new cf cards from your original floppy disk ( 2000 classic users). I no longer have the floppy drive so what I did was, I bought like 6 cf cards and had them formatted so I'm stright for long time. This is like having 100 zip disks. You dont get any noise like scsi because it is digital, and it is really fast. Like I said i spent about a week going through zips and transferring sounds, programs. I came across alot of old samples and beets from a while ago. long live the mpc 2000. I almost sold the thing for one og those mpc 2500 jaoints. Nut I had to say naw and keep my original jawn.I mostley use her as a midi controller, and sequencer anyway. I never eally dug the sound of the mpc 2000 sampler for percussion taht is. But I have learned to like the clean crisp sound of the 2000, for the new style of beats. When i want to keep it raw, and straight up hip hop I just use the Sp1200 & S-950, but these new cats dont know anything about that. Well all the real heads no what time it is. Anyway like the old saying goes " Its not what you have but how you use it.
Peace!
