What kind of record collector/ digger are you?

Seems to me there are 2 basic types of diggers......and of course you can be somewhere in the middle and im sure there might be other types but cant think of em.

1. Collector, cares alot about condition, etc.

2. samplerist, dont give a **** about condition, just want the samples.

What kind are you and why?

for me, Id say im more of #2. I really dont give a ****, so long as the record is somewhat playable, but I scrape up anything. But if you look at my collections, its the largest dollar bin collection in the world! haha!

#2: i don't give a ****. i'll pick it up as long as it plays.

i'm def #1.

i check on condition's and it's a must, but dont get me wrong if i find something rare and limited them i have to buy it reguardless the conditon,well as long as it plays on the turntable and dosent rip my needle apart.
like i have said before i buy for playing at my gigs first cause ima Dj first then if there's something to sample thats a plus, then i buy for the music for listening, so listening and sampling are almost one in the same.

but i like to find stuff thats rare and unheard to my ears if it's been sampled i Don'tGiveAFuc if it's been sampled by some one, i got my list of samples im looking for from oldschool hiphop, if it was used by someone in the 90's i aint trippin

I've been less interested in beatmaking now. I'm moving closer and closer to just record collecting. I do beats a little still though.

Anyway, I'd say more #1. But I'm not super picky about condition.

I gotta admit. I really do just love listening. and sometimes I take a break from beat making.

Yeah. It's amazing how much you go grow to appreciate different musical styles from searching out samples. I love just throwing on a record after work and chilling out.

When I started I was more of #2 but as my collection grows I have been caring a lot more about what I put in it.

I'm #2- i check the condition of the record before i buy it, but as long as i can pull something from it, i'm good.

#2 for life... gimme that record... shiit it plays.. got that good break in it... give it to me... I dont care if the cover is torn, faded, w/e. As long as bad boy plays sall good

as your collection get's bigger and you start noticing that you have to start moving these beat up records place to place , please DONT toss them out!!! give them to the thrifts so they can be recycled by others .

Yeah I'm about to clear my shit out. All the bullshit records I got at thrift stores and things need to go! I've been keeping everything saying "Oh I might sample this one day" but nope I just don't care anymore. Bad stuff is goin back to the thrift stores. Unless I can find a sucker who will buy them

i am a collector and a dj as well as a samplist.
i really do care about the condition because records have value to me and i like to buy stuff to flip for double what i paid at least.
as far as breaks go i kinda like the extra dirt on the drums .
i can handle scratchy sides but i just dont do warps.
i stay all the way away from warped out wax.
yeah its true
once you get into records the more you get tired of all the dusty beat up records
especially when you move and you have like 20 crates of beat up records
on about the 10th trip up five flights of stairs your asking yourself
"now why was it that i bought this beat up record"
i tend to stay to clean stuff becuase i can sample it, spin it out ,and if i want to sell it i can usually get something decent out of it.
