Chop Headache

Does anyone have this problem when using the chop function?

You select the loop you'd like to chop. You select the chop function and commence fine tuning the in and out points of each slice, but then u accidentally press F4 (divide).

Now you are stuck with one slice that is half as long as all the others without the option to undo. Now when you go to create a nice 16 pad program the last sample is pushed onto another bank.

The old os used to allow you to combine two slices to make one slice, but when I click edit I am only given the option to create a program or a patched phrase.

Am I missing something?

Let me know it you also have this problem, whether their is a work around (beside pressing cancel) or whether this would be worth submitting as a bug / further update?

I don't have my mpc in front of me, but as far as I remember - if you want to get rid of a slice, can't you just extend the previous slice over it?

So if you're working in 11 and you don't want 12, just extend the end of 11 to the end of 12, and #13 will automatically become #12.

Where do I locate this combine function

there isnt one, just overlap the chop points

But when I create a program wont I end up with an extra pad and a blank pad.

If someone knows or has an MPC next to them can they let me know.

No. You just simply extend a chop point over another and one dissapears leaving you with the desired 16 chops. I think they did this because the Combine function was a bit ambiguous, as to what slices were being combined. I can't really remember, 2.1 seems so long ago.

What i get is
say you had 6 slices and you just about set all the start and end points as you want them for each slice... and your scrolling through your slices listening to them and then... you accidently go to far the left and CHANGE the amount of slices...

THATS A **** - you loose all your start and end points for your slices and you have to do them again.. Pisses me wright off - UNDO button needed imho -

Its not much of a problem if you only messing with a few slices but if your chopping somthing up with like 30+ slices and then this happens its a wounder

i do that once every three times i chop, it's very annoying. you just put the finishing touches on a particularly good chopjob and boom, fukkkked

Glad its seen as a problem an its jot just me - Surely this could be changed easily enough though by JJ - I dont know maybee locking the number of slices or somthing.. say once you start editing the start and end points of the slices it locks and then if you do change the number of slices by accident it asks you like a "Do it" screen for example -

no, absolutely not, i agree w/ you 100%. in fact, this is a functional design flaw that borders on "bug" so i see absolutely no problem with reporting it as one.

however, give specific instructions as how this happens, because i could forsee it being difficult to translate. i always feel like i'm writing to a supergenius child who only understands a little english, but who somehow holds all the answers to your problems.

i miss how they took out the ability to add slice markers in equal cuts.. to me it sucks jj took it out
