MPC3000 backlight dim, or not...?

Just got my MPC3000, and the LCD is really hard on the eyes.. Is this really normal?

I have the contrast knob all the way up, but can only read the LCD when the overhead light (ceiling light) is on. From my searches I know it doesn't light up like a Mpc2KXL, but man...it is dim.

You may need new foil. I sent mine to VST Technology and got a complete overhaul before XMas. You can try them, or Forat or even Akai. You'll like it in the end.

i was dumb, i had my 3000 already with VST to fix the power supply, and i forgot about my backlight, now i got to re-sensd it.

See if you need some new drum pads while you're at it.
Also check your buttons and knobs too.
That will save you some money and grief.

You can do that yourself if you know how to solder and aren't scared to open the machine up.

Get the backlight from midi-rakete.de, they have the best prices and can give you different colors. Tell Wolfgang I sent you, he gave me a bit of a discount when I ordered 2 extras.

no, i could take it to my pops though, he fixed my broken mixer once, had to replace the coil inside so this should be cake for him...good idea elmac.

It's easy. Once you open it up to get access, you just desolder 2 connections (on the 60 at least) and slide the film out, slide the new one in and solder. Close it up and you're good.
