strange problem in mpc mixer

hey y'all,

i've been having an aggravating problem when i go to mixer mode on my mpc1k. if i highlight a pad and select either the L/PAN or L/OUT tab, the volume fader will slowly start decreasing on the selected pad.... and if i choose a new pad, that pad will then start decreasing in volume too -- like i'll see the fader onscreen slowly start moving downwards.. sometimes just straight down, sometimes kinda herky-jerky.

it seems like it's reading some sort of input from somewhere but i have no idea what -- i have no midi cables connected and it still happens.

any ideas??

what happens when you assign a pad to qlink2 realtime tune and then hit the pad? does the tune drop? if so it sounds like a problem w/ one of your qlinks, presumeably the bottom one.

or maybe you just forgot to punch out of "rec" or "over dub" before going to the mixer screen to make adjustments?

no, the REC/OVERDUB is definitely off when i'm in mixer mode. i think antonym, you're probably right it's a qlink problem -- i realized that if i turn the bottom Q2 slider on (press the AFTER button) and slide it to the top, the volume will then move all the way back up and stay there. so it looks like it's fixable that way. it was just getting annoying because i could barely use the PAN mixer because i'd be spending the entire time trying to stop the volume from falling!

so what do you think could be the problem? some sort of contact gone in the Qlink slider? maybe i'll open it up and see if i can clean it inside or something....

give it a peep in there. next step is callling VST and asking how much a replacement slider is. get nick on the horn and describe your problem, he sees this stuff enough to know what needs to be replaced.

please tell us what happens, how it goes, etc so when it happens to us (if) we can take steps to handle it.

i would recreate the beat to double check. it would have been an easy mistake to make. recreate the beat and make sure to punch out before going to mixer mode. if you get the same problem call vst, if not, you fixed the problem and don't have to repair anything. or at least go to the setup tab under the mix screen and see if "record mix changes" is set to "off". if it is then nym is probably right and you should call vst.
