Which is better, or does it even matter?

1st let me say I have a MPC2000XL

when i found out that the MPC25000 was coming out I was started saving my sounds in "pgm" format instead of "aps" cause as you remember when the 2500 1st came out it would not read aps from the MPC2000/XL and I was gonna get one. Anyhow, I have gotten so used to saving my new programs as "pgm" but as I was doing this last night I got to thinking is there any real benefit to saving my current "aps" as "pgms" or can I just keep them as is?
what is the drawback?

Also, if I keep them as is (as "aps") can I still load them seperately into the 4 seperate drum program spaces that I have on the 2000XL with no problems?

BTW....I plan on keeping my 2000XL. For me it's better than the 2500. I consider it a classic 2000 on steroids

APS forces you to overwrite all programs and sounds, so they are useless if you need to add a quick program into your current work. For people that use the same sounds every single time, this probably wont matter. I'd rather have the ability to load up 20 programs randomly as I'm going and change them on the fly (or use them simultaneous in drum1-4 as you mentioned). The main benifit to APS is that it loads all the programs at once in specific slots. If you normally use a single program to create tracks, there isn't really a need for APS.

I save as PGM and SEQ 90% of the time. I Only use ALL and APS together if I need a live set or am working on some crazy project where stuff is scattered all over the place and don't want to lose anything. Sometimes I'll use ALL if I put together a song by multiple sequences. ALL does have the ability to load single sequences unlike APS does with programs. ALL also keeps some info that you can't save anywhere else like midi sync (not that its hard to set again).

Oh and if you make tracks under the influence... its sometimes safter to just use ALL and APS
