Hi Guys,

I am new here.
Yesterday I got my first own mpc!
I decided to go for the 1000 black most of all for portability, since I play live quite a lot.-
I couldn't been more happy, I should have bought it sooner.
I'm am going back to the hardware world, I had once lots of hardware, then I started compacting the studio making it computer based but I feel like the combination between the two worlds best siuts my needs.
I'm very happy to have discovered this forum, it looks like most of the poster are friendly and ready to help, unlike other forums.
I'm still having troubles setting the right latency settings when patching the mpc into the computer, but I will soon get a small mixer so I shouldn't have any worries.

THE BABY ROCKS.

you think it's better I familiarize with the native OS prior to jump on the jj wagon?
I know the mpc a bit already since I have used a 2000xl for some time so I have in mind the basics but not much more.

I wanted to buy the new OS tomorrow, but maybe I'll wait a bit.

Don't wait. I waited a couple of weeks after I bought mine before I bought it and it was a waste of time. The new OS kills the official one.

don't wait. the only reason kids use training wheels is because it would hurt to fall down. that ain't the case here.

dude, i got my first mpc a couple of weeks ago, so i'm more or less in the same boat as you.

now i was travelling when i bought mine so i didnt get a chance to install the new os so i fiddled with the standard one.

switched to 3 when i got back, and i gotta agree with the others, it kills the akai one, and makes it so much easier to use!

the only reason i havent gone with 4 yet is that paypal wont bloody register my country yet. but as soon as they do i'ma jump on 4 or whatever versions out by that time :P

oh and heres a tip from one newbie to another, switch off the quantise/time correct if youve got decent rythm and timing :D

and one more thing, i think this is jj os only:

[MODE] + PAD11 and you can fiddle with all the pads at once!

Yeah, don't wait... the JJ (unofficial) OS is basically the same as the Akai OS, but with more featues, so you might as well switch now.
