ok. here we are sitting at the studio at a loss. after fully producing an album with the mpc 1k (without) using midi. now we are doing a song i need to have midi working in order to track it. the problem is we never figured out how to have the mpc1k sequence START playing when we hit the PLAY button on our aw4416 yamaha recorder. the yamaha is configured correct and is sending the midi out to the mpc 1k. however for some reason the 1k will not start. WHERE do we go to setup up the 1k to recieve the midi trigger? i dont want the mpc1k to be the master i want it to be the slave.
when connecting the mpc 2k (original) to the yamaha via midi it all works fine. we go to the midi screen on the 2k set the time code to 25 and it works.
where do we go on the 1k to do this?
YES we have read the manual and searched all the forums we can find. is there anyone here that use midi if so how/where do you config the 1k to act as a slave and start playing on que?
thanks

PS
here is another issue/concern
when playing the sequence back on the 1k for an extended amount of time (say 15 mins) the sequence continues to play but the sounds in the sequence will stop playing until the time on the seq starts from loop point. i hope im explaining this clearly. for example say i have sounds playing on track 1-4 on a 2 bar sequence. after letting this 2 bar seq play for a while the sounds will stop playing from bar1-2 then continue afterwards. what causes this break/pause in the sequence? if anyone has any idea please reply back asap! thanks much!!

MIDI button (mode and Pad9) second tab. Not as many options as the 2k, but upon first trying to slave the 1k to Cubase SX 2, sending nothing but MIDI timecode and Clock signals, no MMC, I can get the 1k to start and stop with the press of a key in Cubase.

Should be a pretty simple deal. Maybe try different frame rates?

we are kicking this up again because months later we still cannot figure out how to get the mpc 1k to START playing via midi when the trigger is sent from a master device.

if ANYONE figured out how to do this please tell us step by step how its done.

the book offers no help with this.

You gotta have your Yamaha recorder send Midi Clock out, then in your MPC press MODE + Pad 9 (MIDI), go to the sync tab and in the IN paramater set it to whatever port is receiving the MIDI in 1 or 2. That should be enough so that everytime you press play on the recorder the MPC wil also sgtar playing. I hope this helps

dunno cheif works ok for me (DP3.11 & OS9.22 / DP4.12 & OSX.32)

mpc even chases to the middle of a bar. u sure your recorder can send sync?

(edit: i replied at the same time as the previous post...didnt see it until after)
