Cancelled my MPC-500 order.

To each his own, I am getting it to take on Trips, for long Boring days at work, When there is Lightning crashing all around (I live in Florida, Lightning Capitol), Portability, Scketch pad for Beats, etc...
I'm buying it for myself for my birthday, I think I'm gonna dig this "New Toy".

I go with the best of both worlds, my home studio with a fully loaded 2500 and the 500 for whenever I need it.
Actually I was just at a friends house hanging around not doing to much(letting our kids play together). While sitting there bored I decided to put some stuff together.....came out really nice. Now I can take the ideas I have in the 500 home to the big Mpc and work out the finish product in my home studio.

Take it from someone that uses the 500, it's not a toy. It's a portable Mpc.

Yeah I was kinda cloudy on that one too.

Jahrome would consider the 1000 a toy, so Kris76 saying the same thing about the 500 reminded me of Jahrome (even though Jahrome hasnt dissed the 500 as a toy.... yet).

Welcome to NUMARK WORLD and this is a sign of your future with numark. There will never be another MPC made that will gain classic status. When manufacturers are in this position they will churn out crap after crap.

i don't understand what trait of these machines makes something a toy to these people. something tells me that it's genital compensation, or the overwhelming desire to make beats on something that's bigger than a cash register from the 80s, living out some childhood fantasy of being an astronaut...who knows

the 1k is reaching cult status and will be remembered/used for decades

I bought one, I really like it. It has a solid feel, like all MPC's, I think it's far from being just a toy.

It is a small portable MPC, with limited features. It is not supposed to replace the larger MPC models.

Some people write and perform full songs with much more limited, older equipment. The limitations can be an advantage, forcing you to work around, or within, the limitations.

Accept it...get over it!

I think it will be seen as a classic.

If you don't want a small, portable MPC, then don't buy it...Buy one of the larger MPC's that has the features you want and STFU!!!

I really don't see why people are getting so upset about it, it seems totally ridiculous and hysterical.

I will find many uses for it, for example, on my 4 week snowboarding trips to places such as New Zealand or Alaska, stuck in a campervan/motorhome every night without AC power, playing with an MPC will be much more interesting than listening to the bland commercial radio every night on the car radio.

I was thinking the same

i gotta say, i was a bit hesitant, even after i got it i felt a bit weird cause i have tons of things that sort of do the same thing plus more. but now i have it with me on my first trip and the battery thing is great. it has the least features of the line at the moment, but the last mpc i had was a 2000 and it has some features that didn't even seem to have. it took a little while to get the menus and buttons right but after a few hours it's almost all in my memory. it's a nice thing to have along in my computer bag. i think for live use it might replace my current drum machine since i can store so many samples in it and it's so small. i've had a lot of fun messing with it in my hotel rooms and stuff. maybe a better purchase for a traveler.
