i guess "4LIFE" was too long....

I take it you need 1 pad to mute more then 2 other pads?

Well on the mpc1000 u can set the program to Mono so every pad on the mpc will be cancled by the next pad u touch thats crazy the mpc2000xl cant do that

its kinda sad acturally

i just got it too and love it but damn man thats bullshit

i take it that when i said you can't do it in that other post, it wasn't good enough to convince you? oh well...

being able to set a whole program to mono is something new that was added to the 1000 and 2500. in addition, the 2500 (maybe even the 1000 too) have mute groups, which i think are far superior than the ability to set a whole program to mono. any pads in a mute group will cut off any other pad in that same mute group.

all the 2000xl has is mute targets.

you can achieve the effect of it seeming like the program is set to mono in a few ways. one way is to set all of the pads to note-off, and make sure the duration is set appropriately in step edit so that no sounds overlap, but they end just before the next sample begins.

another way (which is what i used to do) is to have the pads in bank B mute the pads in bank A. so if you hit B1, it would mute A1. you need to set samples to the pads in bank B, but turn their volumes down in the mixer for this to work.

see with programs to mono u can play samples and just freak the ish out of chops its so so so **** great but man i didnt know the mpc2000xl didnt have this i would have stayed witht he 1k

each pad on the 2kxl can mute off two other pads. Just assign them in program...parameters. move the cursor to where it says poly, note off, or mono, then press open window and select the pad you would like this pad to mute off.

still can't do it then read the manual.

You must just want to get rid of it cause you been told a few time that it can do it.Im not trying to be smart but I dont understand how you ask a question from people that you think know and then dont believe them. I set most of my pads to mono also and get the same results you are talking about.

You really need to read your manual and experiment more ie, combining features to get what you want when you don't see the feature straight out in one single feature. That's a problem that many newbies have.

its kinda sad acturally
No it's not.

i take it that when i said you can't do it in that other post, it wasn't good enough to convince you? oh well...
On point

I set most of my pads to mono also and get the same results you are talking about.
I do the exact same thing sometimes, always get the results I want which is exactly the case here. Works fine.

i guess u need to play a mpc1000 to see what im talking about having one pad cancle 2 more is cool but it isnt as clost to be able to freak all 16 pads and cancle out any sound with another
