can i connect a cd-rom drive ( usb one i suppose?) to the 1 k....i did a search in this site but couldn't find an answer.....

there are a few programs out there that translate akai cd's into something your compter will be able to read.
one is called Translator made by ChickenSys. i used it briefly, didnt work so well for me, but i understand it works great for other people.
i use Reload (propellerheads). this one has the added benefit of translating the akai cd's to reason files too (well, it's actually made to do that). the audio on the cd's is converted to .wav files, which you can import into your mpc.
