First off....i'm new to the MPC world so work with me. I just purchased the MPC1000 and have been unsuccessful in my attempts in using it as a MIDI controller. Is this not possible? I am using Cubase SX in conjunction with Kontakt and Battery. I used to use my Kurzweil VX2 as my controller by connecting it to the PC via the M-Audio Uno USB Midi Cables. I was hoping that I would be able to use the MPC1000 in the same fashion to trigger the sounds in Cubase. Please let me know whether or not this function is supported. Or for that matter, are any of the MPCs (2000, 2000xl, or 4000) capable of this?

I've had no problems playing VST/Rewire instruments through Cubase using my MPC. The issue I have is with Cubase:

When a MIDI track is selected, it plays all incoming MIDI data through that track, not just data assigned to the channel assigned to that track. So in order to play multiple MIDI channels in cubase, I need to create a separate MIDI track for each of them and then an additional dummy track of some kind to select while the MPC plays the initial tracks.

One thing you can NOT do, that also annoys me a bit but I can work around. If you create your VST/Rewire/MIDI sequences on the MPC, you can't simply record the sequence playing into Cubase. It won't work, it will record additional tracks of data specific to the MPC, and the junk tracks will fudge up in Cubase. The only solution is to save your sequences as .mids on the MPC and then to reoppen them in Cubase.

-tank.

How is your MIDI setup between the MPC and the PC? Maybe my problem is the M-Audio Uno MIDI cables.
