The NEW OS 1.0 (now known as 4.xx) took a bit longer than expected since these NEW OS versions needed to be worked on more before JJ found it acceptible to charge money for it. So the same can be said for the 2500. I'm sure nobody wants to pay for an OS that's not quite ready yet. With that in mind, I'm sure that people will ask why there isnt a free beta version available yet. My guess is that even if it's a free beta to be released first, JJ would still need to spend more time with it to make sure it's good enough to test out. Also, there's alot of paying customers for the 1000 NEW OS that JJ can't dissapoint either, as a few bugs are currently being fixed. Since JJ has paying customers, the 1000 NEW OS is top priority. That seems to make more sense from a business standpoint, from what I see. Akai has the worst business ethics I've ever seen. Every time a new MPC comes out, Akai will neglect the previous models. The neglect of the MPC4000 is a prime example of that, followed by the 1000 with it's exisitng 2.10 bugs. The OS for the 2500 is obviously being neglected in favor of the 500... and the vicious cycle will continue when Akai release another MPC. JJ will not follow the type of neglect that Akai continues to do. So hang in there. Eventually, the JJ OS for the 2500 will be more consistant than anything Akai could ever be capable of (or willing to accomplish).

ARe your trying to imply that you know what's going on behind the scenes at Akai or JJ?
The first JJ OS was released with over 30 bugs and it is still being worked on. Yet, he/they saw fit to sell it to 1000 users.
The 2500 received an OS update this past Summer. When the JJ OS for the 2500 is released, I will be happy to remind you about what you posted here. How can you put so much faith into JJ when he/they have yet to release a 'bug' free product? Smoke and mirrors is what you are getting. Giving you additional features or re-arranging the way the menus work...but still giving you a bunch of bugs. JJ should have concentrated on what was wrong with the Akai OS first and then started working on added functions. We will be having these same conversations 1 year from now.
Again...you wouldn't have an MPC to talk about if not for Akai.

you seem to be missing the big picture about what makes the JJ O.S. for the 2500 so desirable.
It will take a $1999 MPC2500 and turn it into a $999 MPC1000 w/ working pads.
That has got to be worth a lot, oh wait that's a lost not a gain.
Porting the 1k OS to the 2500 is just instability waiting to happen.
If JJ can't get it bug free on the 1k which is it's native environment then what makes people so open to thinking they can make it run bug free in a varied environment?
I hope all these people remember when the 2500 had that System Error bug that prevented it from booting or loading a replacement OS.
If the JJ OS locks your 2500 up in a similar way any you can't get it to take the authentic Akai OS, then you will have to send it to Akai.
Watch what they tell you about your broken 2500 that's locked up with a 3rd party OS.
At least if JJ releases the 2500 OS it will move the discussions to another forum.

I'm not implying that at all. I'm simply calling it the way I see it, as far as Akai is concerned. I know I'm not the only one who sees a pattern here. You can disagree with me and that's fine. I don't expect everyone to agree with me. As far as JJ is concerned, the man obviously cares more about the OS than Akai does. It's really not hard to see that at all.
The first JJ OS was released with over 30 bugs and it is still being worked on. Yet, he/they saw fit to sell it to 1000 users.
This statement alone tells me how much you've been paying attention to
JJ's work. The first OS was NOT released with over 30 bugs. Maybe a handful of bugs were popping up and then fixed with each release. Unfortunately, more bugs will come about as new features are added. So when you saw 30 bugs, they were not all there at once. This is a gradual thing. That's the nature of software development. At least JJ is addressing bugs promptly. I don't see that happening much at all with Akai. The 2500 received an OS update this past Summer.
yeah and you're probably gonna have to wait till NEXT summer for another upgrade, judging at Akai's track record. When the JJ OS for the 2500 is released, I will be happy to remind you about what you posted here.
There's nothing for you to remind me of. I know for a fact that the JJ2500 OS is bound to have bugs, just as the 1000. As I mentioned above, t's a gradual thing, and that's the nature of software development when implementing new features. How can you put so much faith into JJ when he/they have yet to release a 'bug' free product?
Let's flip the coin for a second and ask the same thing about Akai.
$2000 is ALOT of money to spend on a 2500 that STILL has bugs. That's why i told you a year ago that I'll wait a year before I even consider buying a 2500. I'd be extremely pissed if I had to deal with all that for an entire year and Akai STILL aint got it right. For you, it's no skin off your back, cause you got money at your disposal to go and buy another mpc3000. For me, $2000 is alot of money to be "putting my faith in" as opposed to $30 on JJ's OS.Smoke and mirrors is what you are getting. Giving you additional features or re-arranging the way the menus work...but still giving you a bunch of bugs.
Again... this is the same thing with Akai, minus ALOT of features that they don't care to implement due to their agenda... that really expensive 3500 or whatever they're gonna name it and cover up a sh!tload of bugs with MARKETING HYPE. The money they spend on hype should be budgeted on OS development instead. You think they'd get a clue by now? Not as long as they got people like you pushing their "smoke and mirrors" agenda. Some people may be questioning whether or not you work for Akai, based upon how you've been talking here. But I'm willing to bet you're gonna be doing the hustle on ebay when that 3500 rolls outta the sweatshops of China.![]()
JJ should have concentrated on what was wrong with the Akai OS first and then started working on added functions.
He already did!
Amp Envelope Bug - FIXED!
Directory Errors (and similar problems) - FIXED!
Data Corruption on HDD/ CF - FIXED!We will be having these same conversations 1 year from now.
Maybe... maybe not. Alot of things can happen within a year. Who knows what could happen? Akai can go under again for all we know.... Hardware sequencers/samplers may go the way of the dinosaur.... George Bush could fuk things up even more and we'll all be fukin vaporized from a nuclear war..... Or we may still be here in another 50 years from now arguing about the OS for the MPC5000000000. LOLAgain...you wouldn't have an MPC to talk about if not for Akai.
The MPC couldnt have been possible without the man himself...

So Akai has hidden agenda's and always fall through?
What bugs are there with the 2500 that are left over from V1.0 the original OS?
Hmmmmm
Now look at the bugs that they do actually have currently, they are centered around features that were added and need some additional changes to current some problems.
Yet you said this about JJ
How is that any different from what Akai is doing?
It's not.
It's just so funny how people act like JJ is Moses leading his people to the promised land that Akai wouldn't let them have.
The big picture is pretty simple, all JJ is going to really accomplish is Akai will change how their units store the OS and the end user will suffer.
Necessary to prevent the OS from being hacked again.
