HELP WITH STEP EDIT FOR 2000 CLASSIC!!!

SO I WAS TALKING TO A FEW PEOPLE ABOUT IT. THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME GOOD FEEDBACK AT ALL. I'M LOOKING FOR STEP EDIT HELP FOR THE MPC 2000 CLASSIC. IM TRYING TO ALTER MY DRUMS(DOUBLE KICKS, SWINGING HI-HATS, ETC.) W/O HAVING TO USE SHIFT TIMING. SO IF YOU CAN EXPLAIN HOW THIS IS DONE, PLEASE HELP ME OUT WITH WHATEVER YOU CAN.

P.S. I LEARNED HOW TO USE THE MPC W/O A MANUAL, I DONT HAVE A MANUAL. SO PRETTY MUCH, THIS ISSUE IS A TOUCH-UP PROBLEM.

Damn yo, im ahvin the same prob with my xl mcd...im comin from a 1k...i tried to gp to step..but it shows nothin...help fo real..

Anyway, in step edit you can ONLY see the notes on a track that are recorded in that SAME timing (unless you just turn timing off, then you can see everything regardless of previously recorded timing). ie, you record on a track with 1/32(t), some of those hits will not show up in step edit if you change the timing to 1/8. Change the timing back to 1/32(t) and THEN go back into step edit and you will see them. Also in the manual it tells you how to step PRECISELY to the next event without even using the datawheel to search through the ticks, you need to get into that manual, not using the manual is not a badge of honor, not having one is not either. Give it a try.

Thanks for that info...I was wondering about that. However I read the manual.

The 2000 manual is pretty vague. For most things it tells you the features and what they do but doesn't tell you how to use them.

In the MAIN SCREEN, push STEP function, this opens the step editing window for whatever track is currently selected.
Using the 5 LOCATE bottons at the bottom left of your mpc you can scroll through your track by incriments of time or by jumping to the next event.
If you want a kick every bar for example you would go into step edit and press(and hold) the middle of the 5 LOCATE buttons which is GO TO and press the BAR button with the arrows pointing left. Now the numbers at the top right of your screen should say something like 1.00.00
At this point Whatever pad you hit it will add that event at whatever time you are on.

Okay so after pressing your kick you can hold GO TO and press the BAR button with the arrows pointing right now the number should change to 2.00.00 or whatever then you can press your next kick, GOTO next bar again, press your next kick etc. You can hear what you've just made by pressing the PLAY ALL button. Also try holding GOTO and the < > STEP key's this will 'jump' you from one even to the next. If you press the < > STEP keys without holding GOTO it will scroll through the bars by 32nd note triplets I believe. I'm not at my machine so I can't verify all this as being correct but I hope it helps somewhat.
