Sup,

WOW!
That's one hell of a cool mod u got on the Classic 2000 ;)

I honestly didn't think it could be done...

Could you please take some photos of the inside when u get a chance.

I would love to mod my 2k using a scsi CF drive.

Peace

:)

hello,
sorry my english is bad, but i hope you understand me.

how do you connect the cardreader with the mpc2000 motherboard? i want install a scsi zip and the only way that I see is to braze a scsi cable to the external connector.

second question. can you partition a cf card?

thank you.

My question is, if I insert a compact flash card into the reader, will 'ATAPI' magically appear in the menu when I try to save?

I'm sick up acquiring all these floppies, and zips, well...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To answer your question my drive reads scsi 0, and scsi 1. Im not sure if you copped the sacf drive that I have in my 2000. You will want to double check with the manufactuer you bought it from. I would try and contact mikefeadback. He has a post in this thread and he has successfully installed one of those drives in his 2000xl

i don't have an atapi card reader, i have a scsi one, and i set it to be scsi 1 and scsi 2.

anthopology3000, i picked up 2 memory cards for the s950 off of ebay. they came yesterday, and when i went to install them, it turned out that my s950 already had one, but it just was never pushed in enough to register. when i bought it, i was told it had standard ram so i never thought anything of it. nice surprise. now i can sell one of the two that i bought probably for more than half what i paid.

scsi reader... as in, an external scsi reader? for compact flash cards? Well, let me ask you how you set your drive to be scsi 1 and 2- what steps do you take to do that.

i actually took apart an external scsi reader and installed it internally to my mpc. an external reader is just an internal reader inside of a case. when you take the reader outside of the external case, you'll see it has a bunch of pins on it. some of them are for connecting the SCSI cable, some are to connect the power cables, and some are used to set the SCSI ID's.

it's hard to explain to someone that's never worked on the inside of a computer, but the SCSI ID's are set depending on what combination of pins are "jumped". maybe next weekend i'll take it apart and take some pictures so that you can see what i'm saying. although i wouldn't recommend doing it if you're not sure what you're doing.

so cutting some pieces on the inside is the only way we can get a internal card reader?
