mpc is for sequencing loops, not having it loop automatically. that's why the mpc sequencer is so powerful.

everyone who is struggling so hard to get loops down so you can hit the pad once and have it repeat over and over just needs to downgrade to an sp404 or 303. sequence your loop point, the result is way more powerful, plus there are more notes to trigger the sound that way - no having to wait for the seq to loop so that your note will play

its not about loops. when i work with breaks i get the break at the project tempo then cut up sections of it & retrigger. this is nice and all but when you have to change tempo even by .1 your project is ruined. so i started patch phrasing my breaks. on a break that has 16 hits, since you can't set loop points on patched phrase i have to chop and set hit points on this break 256 times total. this is an insane amount of work for one break so i resorted to retriggering chunks again so i dont have to chop the same break 16 times. :( true its way more powerful to sequence each note separately etc but i like to retain the groove of the original break and patched phrase does this perfectly... but i have to chop within the mpc and 256 chops..... ;(

why not chop and then recreate the groove? with the note leaning in 6 pad grid edit/qlink shift time and swing, it's reallllly easy to do that

'back in the day' ppl used to make jungle using the retrig technique. if you've ever listened to ragga and the like you'd understand that trying to maintain the drummers groove over an entire track is insanley tedious. this isn't a big deal on a computer as you can use the mouse but its a huge deal on the mpc. i dont think im asking for anything out of the norm. normal wave files have loop points... patched phrases can benifet from loop points the exact same way wave files can. i dont understand the confusion :?: a patched phrase is just a wave file with some info shoved in the beginning of it. open it up in a wave file and you'll see. i used to hate on this feature but i just never realized i had a use for it... but honestly the feature is sick!!!
