okay so when I record my roland synth onto the mpc its all good until I turn the mpc off. I can't seem to figure out how to save the midi parts of my sequences (everything else saves). I save the 'performance' in my synth...... but how do I get the mpc to save its midi settings and play back the performance? Thanks!

You should be saving in the mpc and on your keyboard.

The sequence file and program file(if any) should be saved.
The sounds u choose from the Roland keyboard should also be saved within the Roland.

You shouldnt have a problem then.

thnx for the reply. I do save to the mpc and the keyboard. The sound selection gets saved properly but the midi isn't saved on the mpc and thus when I play back the sequence the keyboard part doesn't play.

?

I'm not sure whats going on. All I do is save "All seqs and songs" and it works fine for me.

Shit. I can't make beats till I figure this out. :(

Maybe its a problem in the synth with 'transfer to midi' or something ....?

Anyone??

ok, you lost me with the transfer to midi thing. what exactly are you trying to do? My understanding is that you are trying to:

Play a performance on the Keyboard
Record the midi performance into the mpc
playback the performance from the mpc through the keyboard

is this right?

Yeah thats exactly it. The transfer to midi is something from the Roland manual (POS!), I think to send settings to the mpc, but i don't think it matters.
I can record the performance and play it back fine, but even when i save all seq and songs then turn off the mpc - the midi and keyboard parts aren't saved.

i have this same problem with my Fantomx8 and my 1000.

The mpc saves the midi ntoes i played on the Fantom keyboard, but not the sounds.

I was told id have to get an audio interface to hook up to my computer to be able to save and record the fantom and mpcs performances together as one.

MPC audio out-> interface audio in
Fantom audio out -> interface audio in

interface -> to software DAW so you can record
your audio performance from both machines.

MPC sounds are saved in the MPC.
Fantom sounds are saved in the Fantom.

There are different variations of this but this is the simple basic one.
