My first ZIP failure :-(

I've just started working on a brand new disk that i put a load of 60 samples I did last weekend on. I've just had (another) MPC3k delivered and wanted to make sure everything was working OK so I plug the Zip drive in and try loading and the first sound file comes up with the error that some or all of the files maybe corrupt error code [FF10:306/29/00]
I've tried a few others and on diff partitions and some work and some don't
Any suggestions?

get a cardreader. I still got a few brand new ones.
I'm NEVER switching back

the next couple of years we'll see a whole lot of grown men crying....all zip drives are 7 years old at least....

I have another problem too!

This ZIP was formatted and all samples taken on a 60 Mk 2 with OS 3.1

My samples are sampled pretty loud not really peaking that much, theres certainly no noticeable clipping. However now that I have loaded them into the 3K they have clipping all over the bloody place!

Its kind of like a TV static noise. I'll post audio when I get home on the weekend. Its really annoying as I spent a whole weekend sampling loads of stuff on my 60 ready for when I would be away this week for me to trim up and sequence up etc. So the few samples that aren't corrupted are fecked anyways!!!!!

I think I'm going to changeoever to just a MPC3000 and S950 setup. I can't be arsed with this ****

man, I just got ther scsi kit installed and have a zip drive; just formatted a disk last night, but I'm scared to even save to it after hearing of so many failures.

OK I'm now back home and I have acces to my other MPC 3000 (an LE) and my 60's as well as another ZIP drive. Well it turns out now that the disk appears to be fine! I seem to be able to load up the ones that didn't work earlier on in the week on both the 60 and the LE and I'm not getting this clipping TV static on either MPC now?!

I've got both 3000's set up and a 60 and I'm trying to get to the root of the problem and the conclusion is the 3000 I was using earlier on in the week is faulty. I can load the same sample up on the 60 and LE but when I try the 3000 it will say its loading but just seems to freeze or say there is no disk in the drive and give an error FF80:306/29/00

So have I got a SCSI fault or something?

I had that too, just before the zip died on me.

perfectly good samples started clipping, distorting...

even the begin and end values were **** up....


get a cardreader while you still can.... all zipdrives in the world are like 7 years old already. just a matter of time before everyone wants to switch to cardreader then it'll be a hard time to find them
