any one ever tried...

The M-Audio ozone? I was at GC today and it caught my eye. Mainly for its audio interface. My question is will this be suitable enuf for my setup cause it certainly fits my budget. My gear consists of a 2kxl(non 8 outs), yamaha mg 12/4, psr-gx76, pt-01, a set of dinky m-audio monitors and a laptop. Soon to be adding a better set of monitors, a fantom xr rack, and a mic. Will this be a good companion to all this? thanx.

if you are looking for an interface, you might want something with more ins and outs. you might not need it now, but in the next 6 months to a year you might. i have a presonus firebox. with 4 outs and 6 ins, i think, and i have used all of the ins already. im glad that my mpc can through play my turntable. otherwise it would be plug in, un plug, plug in, un plug. every time i wanted to switch. also you might want some more midi outs. i have 1 midi in and 1 midi out on the firebox. if my electribe were working i would be stuck. but at the moment, im cool. but once it comes back.... i will be looking to purchase something else.

my advice is this, think about where you will be in about a year or so. if you dont think that you will need anything except what that controller has to offer, you will probably be alright. but if you plan on expanding your home studio, you might want to get ahead of the game by copping something you can use now and then, instead of buying something you need now, but later will be in the closet.

one more thing, does that have only one instrument input? i now my mpc has two outputs, a left and a right. you wouldnt be able to monitor correctly i dont think. also its unbalanced. from what i understand, the 2k has balanced lines doesnt it? i was told that balanced and unbalanced lines will affect your mix, if your monitors have are balanced. i have a pair of m-audio bx8a's. they are balanced so i made sure that my interface had balanced outs. just to make sure that i didnt get any noise from the lines. i think thats what that refers to. im not sure about that one. anyways i wrote a book and this is the final chapter.

thanx 4 the input homie i didnt really really realize all that. ill take a look at a few other interfaces. i liked it all because of the controller/interface value, but ill see if there is another like it. i think the ozonic is a bigger version ill check the specs on that. if it aint any good either then ill just look into a stand alone interface and pick up a controller later. thanx dood.

is there another interface that you guys would suggest for all that stuff i listed? cause i cant seem to find a suitable interface. any help is appreciated.

how much are you trying to spend? do you want usb or firewire? how much other gear do you have? i ask because you will probably want more ins and outs.

i realy wasnt trying to spend to much over about $300. eithr usb or firewire is fine. but its looking like ill just have to turn my pc into something to record into cause pci seems like its about the only thing that im gonna be able to have all the ins and outs that i need. something like the delta 10/10. i would rather keep my pc as a gaming machine but it seems like thats not gonna work out which sux. if youre looking for pci, ive heard that the cards by echo are good. but im not sure, i use a laptop so i can only use an audio interface. that being said, i would look at a presonus firebox. thats what i have and i get good results with it. low latency, not a lot of noise, clean recordings. and its $299 if im not mistaken, you will still have a dollar. and wendys has a great .99 cent value menu

only thing i would add is that you might want to get a full(er) size keyboard. i have the oxygen8 which looks almost identical to the pic you posted (less knobs, less features, same size & design) & i wish i woulda got a full size keyboard. the small size is somewhat limiting

i would love to get a full size keyboard if it comes with its own interface as well as this one does.
