chopping samples

good evening
i'm a total beginner trying to chop my samples on the mpc1000. i can record the sample and edit in/out points but there seems to be no option to slice on the trim menu. i'm really struggling with this... any suggestions?

u got an old os.. ur gonna have to update it go to akaipro.com and grab the new operating system 2.1
