help with da mpc2000xl

i have a mpc2000xl an i been reading the manual like yall preach but i'm just not getting it. like i know how to make a 4 bar loop but i'm stuck at that point. and i have samples in the mp but when i load my drum they not their when i try to put them in and is it a way for the sample to cut itself so the sample want play the full length

i know i going to get rip on; lamp dog go easy on me but if that way u have to teach me then let it be

my advice is to forget everything you know about sampling and go into the manual page by page, sentence by sentence and perform every action that is spelled out. No matter how mundane do every example that is layed out. If this means it takes a whole day to get through a chapter, trust me it will eventually sink in, especially if you are applying yourself. I know its a pain, but it is definitely worth it. Then when you get through each individual chapter, take a recess and apply what you did and learn to your personal projects.

If the above fails, buy the tutorial book for your mpc thats advertised on this site and go page for page, sentence for sentence.

i know nobody knows very thing about the mp but how long it took u to get were u at since i'm kinda new to the hardware world

dont worry about progress right now, especially anyone else's progress. get a firm grasp of the basics first. then it will start to become more clear to you. the lingo, operations and capabilities of the mpc. just take it as it comes until it consumes you, then you will be going in the right direction

i copped my mpc in april 06. i feel like i have a hold of the basics, but i have a long way to go in my mind. i make a point to learn something or do something different everytime i power up

i agree with dgny though....just open that manual and apply each individual thing that it tells you.

but remember that the manual only scratches the surface of what the 2kxl can do, you are only limited by your immagination (and 32 megs of memory )

If you got the four bar loop down,(maybe a drum track)
make 3, 4, 5, etc., tracks on a sequence (piano, horn, synth, etc.),
then copy to a new sequence 3, 4, 5 times and turn on/off different tracks to make a combo(drum&piano) or (drum&horn) or solo (piano)

Now sequence your sequences = seq1 repeat 2x, seq2 repeat 2x and so on.

The manual will help and I had my MPC2000 for years and just upgraded to the XL not too long ago. The book even helped with the 2000, as Macaiah said you're only limited to your imagination.

i just started doing this a few months ago, and if you read the manual and occasional posts on this website, you'll be breezin thru the mpc in a few months. no joke, once you learn your machine inside and out, its like going on autopilot and your fingers just take over.

hey guys and ladys im starting to get it now i was putting to much pressure on myself i sat down an went page for page and dg u was right i pick up alot of stuff i think i'm ready to make a beat now. i have alot of records but i have one question after i zone my sample the next step is to assign them right?? and after i assign them can still trim them????

you will always be able to trim/edit your samples. just go back to the trim menu and select the tab(where the sample name is) and scroll through the samples and.... Viola!!!!.....back to trimming!!!!
