When S (START) with E (end) parameter turns [jiyogu] with step editing, it stops being indicated.

geez, these guys/girls are always on the ball aren't they?

as good as it is that jj is so quick to update, part of me wishes he would test these new features a little more before having to drop weekly increments, i mean at the risk of soundimng jahrome-esque we are not in beta any more!

also - i always have to searchout the URL so as a HUGE favour to the MPCcommunity i am reposting it hereout of the goodness of my own heart: enjoy and remember to bookmark this kids - look out for 4.16 and 4.17 next weekend!

ps why did Antonyms JJ forum die?

Since I am not a native speaker new updates have become a Sherlock Holmes thing: every few days I have a look at JJ's site to see if there is a new OS and a new enigma or brain teaser for me. JJ's explantaions of new features are just great - it takes me a while to figure out what the hell he could possibly mean. But it is fun anyway and each new OS makes my live better

But to be honest, I have no clue what this update is for...

Agreed. However, I see it more as the option to install it if i want to rather than waiting 2 months for a polished update. Maybe if he did weekend milestones for solid builds. Wishful thinking.

But i see what the jj are doing. Everyone uses their MPC differently. The more people use the 4.xx o.s. the faster they can find bugs in the programing. In the end we make the job of programing way eaiser on their end....


I personally think its a great trade off for some bomb @$$ features!


JJ's going to give us a merry christmas.

Im wishing for piano roll w/ midi instruments.

I gotta disagree. Look at the Akai OS. There's still bugs in it that have never been fixed. So essentially it's just as much of a beta as JJ's OS... but JJ keeps at it, while Akai doesn't.

BTW... that link to JJ's website is in the sticky topic that Tutor started when he created this sub-forum. I have no idea how you'd miss that, but i thought I'd point it out. If anything, just bookmark JJ's site in your favorites.

As far as Antonym's sub-forum is concerned, there just wasn't enough traffic there compared to this forum. So having 2 JJ forums would be pointless, from what I can tell. Plus there always seem to be bandwidth problems over there and it became frustrating to deal with it not loading. Also, people were getting frustrated that they couldnt log in or create an account. No offense to the "recollective" forum (as they're known as). But unfortunately, it's a vanilla board that needs alot of code modifications in order to run more reliably, as well as securely. Hopefully they fix things up, as they got their own thing going on, and they seem like good people in gerneral.

think of it this way - JJ could either post bug fixes daily (as is the case now) or he could wait every 7 days for weekly updates w/ 7 bug fixes each. this is all an idealized scenario but it'll do as an example.

i would always rather have option A in case one of those bugs limited my workflow, or included a new feature which would be particularly useful (start/end qlinks!?) that just means it's that sooner i get it. the other option has me waiting a week!

the argument has been raised that it turns us into "bug hunters" and that we spend more of our time searching for bugs than making music.

can anyone vouch for this? i can't really say i agree. i churn out better beats faster, "bughunt" or no.

as for the recollective forum, see my next post that i'll make from work, gotta smoke a bowl before i go.

well, let me rephrase - it's taken a brief hiatus due to spam attacks - because of that our master mod witness took away guest posting and made it so that mods have to OK member apps.

i do not like this one bit.

here's what i plan to do - make a VERY small, very select forum on excommence.com in which a vast majority of the big people who post here (people who've followed the os from the beginning and other useful people) are all mods. this would be enough mods to get rid of spam posts.

here's the deal - this place will not be used for questions as we've come to know them here. there will be no clutter or mess or RTFM questions, just good information. it's gonna be techniques. all techniques and tips that i gather and post, and that others post. we will discuss and question these techniques.

cream of the crop type posts. i want it to be an online collective notepad for people who use the jj os and who are generally really good at mpcs anyway. anyone who can benefit and share.

this will come in a while. i'm very busy w/ school and work, meanwhile. we'll see how it goes.

If JJ wasn't on the ball, many if not all the 1K users would flood the forums with complaints and what not. and for those who kindly dropped the $30 would probably be upset the most. the 1K forum was horrible before Akai dropped their latest update...imo! keep em coming JJ and you'll keep us .

Arigato JJ. I love that way with upgrades, so unlike all those big hardware companies which do 2 upgrades in 3 years and drop a product for good. Users choice to upgrade every day or every month, I hope they keep stirring up.
Customers support, knowing somebody cares were main reason of dropping Cubase in favour of Ableton ( though maybe it is not best example since any support or even non support is better then Steinberg)

sounds good, nym. take care of all your personal biz first, no doubt.. and we'll be right there with you on the new forums (as well as being here).

i really wish alot of noobs would do more reading in these forums and on jj's site (as well as reading stan's manual) before posting topics that have been covered already. it's really starting to clutter up this forum the same way the 1k forum already is. as that perpetuates, it becomes harder for noobs to find answers here.

i think that JJ ultimately plans to 'finish' the mpc 1000 OS by completing everything that was on the original list. midi track, pattern, simult seq etc. once the initial features are complete the real bug testing will begin then after that we'll have an absolutely solid OS. i dont mind the daily updates while waiting. keep an archive of the OS files because some updates can bring some horrible bugs that make it impossible to work efficiently.

but thats my point - thats the difference between 'last known stable release' and 'current beta'
