Is Nova muisk an autherized retailer? They quoted me a price of $699.00 like 2 weeks ago, I wonder if the offer still stands.

I was actually thinking of trading in my Digi 002 rack in for a 500 at guitar center, I paid $999 for it from zzounds like 2 years ago, I dont use it much though. But I really didnt want to have to trade anything in for it, but now with this free ram offer I think I might do it.

And I wonder if the Offer is void if you got the 500 from a Trade in and not a Purchase?

I don't see why a trade in would void the coupon for the free ram.

I was thinking it might be a problem because Akai wants you to send them the recipt and because it wouldnt technically be a purchase, it wouldnt have the purchase price on the recipt, it would just say trade in or something.

I think I'll call Akai on Monday just to make sure.

Just do the trade first , get your cash then pay for the 500. Do it as two separate transactions. This should be possible, right??

sounds like a decent trade if you dont use it at all. 700's a bit much, i only paid $650 and an extra $40 for a quality sodimm kensington stick.

Well I paid 8 bills for mine. If you can get it for 650 , man that's a heck of a deal.

nova musik was doing the $650 pre-orders, but now that its out i don't think they'll still quote you a low price. But who knows, its worth trying-

I went to GC today to try to trade in my digi 002 rack for a 500 trying to do a straight up trade.

I walk in and ask the guy "can we do a straight up trade" he looks at me out of the corner of his eye and says to me with his eyebrow arched in a snide way "for a mpc 500 ?" "no!". Like I was asking for a 2500 or something.

Then he goes "The mpc 500 is $799, and thats probabbly what we'd sell your 002 for". Which is a f-ing lie because I never see deals like that on used gear at GC, more then likely they would have sold my 002r for $900 at least... in which case they make a $100 profit on the trade. If anything Im the one that would be getting ripped off.

They always try to low-ball you saying something like "oh we are only going to be able to sell that for x amount because its used". Fking Liers... they dont drop the price off of used gear that much, I saw a used MPC 2500 in there a few months ago for like $1699 when a brand new one costs $1999 so for them to tell me that they are only going to sell my 002 for $799 when it retails for $1199 is a BOLD FACE LIE thats why I never buy anything from places like that anymore, the sales people are dis-honest, un-knowledgable and just try to rip you off, I only deal with online dealers.

I bet if I brought in my MPC 4000 he would have said that Its value wasnt enought to make up for the trade for a 500. ock suckers......

I wouldnt have even tried to trade in my 002r in the 1st place because I know its a rip off deal for me but my financial situation isnt the best right now and I cant afford to buy one straight up and I want to get one now before there is a shortage by the end of the year so i can get that Free ram.

I called Sam Ash too and asked the guy if they had any MPC 500's in stock and he said to me "You mean MPC 2500" and I said "No, MPC 500's" of course they hadnt gotten any in.

Can you belive that? A guy that works in the Pro-Audio department of a major music instrument retailer doesnt even know that the MPC 500 exists. But supposedly the people that work there are all muscians, I think they are all ex shoe salesman or something, im constantly amazed by their lack of knowledge about the gear they sell.

I called them too when I was looking for the 500 about a month or more ago, and they didn't know what I was talking about either.

For that matter the guy at GC that sold me my 500 was like "what is this??"

In all fairness to the sales reps who probably are real musicians(in most cases), it is really hard to keep up with everything new. Most of the time these guys get there info from customers.

It reminds me of when I worked at GameStop, people would come in expecting me to know when the lastest pokemon game comes out or if the new madden was going to have a certain feature or certain players.Just because I work in a game store doesn't mean I play all games. Same goes for a music sales rep. Just because they work at GC or any music store, dosen't mean they're abreast of the latest mpc installment.

So if the reps aren't fans of the gear your looking for they probably won't know much about it untill it arrives in the store, even then sometimes they don't know much.
