Your hard/software setup.

In your setups do you guys run all your gear into your mixer, then into your line in on your interface/cards? Or do u bypass the mixer and run str8 into it? If i have a midi controller, and a synth do i midi the synth and mpc together with audio to the line inon the interface/card and the controller into the interface( for soft synths)? I have cubase right now which i have never checked out for myself yet cause i dont wanna tease myself if i dont have a interface/card to track into it with. This will just simply answer a couple of questions that i have as far as how many ins/outs i am going to need because i dont wann be impatient and dive headfirst into a coffin of sh!t when it comes to audio cards. It also answers how im gonna midi all this together as far as a wiring topology. thanx for your time and replies fam.

start out small, connect a few devices to your mpc, and work out how the signal flows and what not, once you have the basic undrstanding it is much easier to apply to a larger setup. there will also be more than 1 way of setup, so you will most likely be playing around till you find one that suits you.
