What up everybody,

Just got the MPC 1000, new to it all, but so far, I love it, and I've been able to learn things quickly...

I'm having a problem now with trying to track my work into Pro Tools. Yes, I watched "Sparqs" litle tutorial, but for those who have worked with Pro Tools, things are not only layed out differently, but labeled as well...

SO, if anybody out there has the knowledge to drop.... Let me have it, I'd appreciate it!

Take it easy.

yes you do.

the new os has mtc and mmc.

in other words: its great for syncing your tracks

reference your protools manual for mtc and mmc.

hint: the mpc=slave and protools=master

Ok, well I just bought my MPC two days ago, so I may not need to update.

Hit me up with some Instructions homie, if you got AIM, that's the easiest way... I would appreciate it

I feel your pain my man, as i myself run an MP 1000 along with PT 7, so i've been there and done that. Can be very grueling to say the least.

Fisrt off, what type of PT hardware are you using, and what MIDI interface if any?!

I have an MBox 2 Pro, and basically... I got the Output of my 1k, into my input on my MBox, then my Input on my 1k, to my Output on my MBox.

As far as I know, the signal flow is correct.

On my MPC, I have

Active Track receive channel: ALL
Soft Thru: As Track
Sequence Change by Program Change: On
Pad to Internal Sound: On

Sync in: 1
Sync Out: A

and that's really it for the MPC, I was thinking if I should change my MIDI either 1a or whatever on each track in the screen, not sure though...

As for Pro Tools,

Hardware: Internal Clock (Not sure if I should have it on World Clock)

Peripherals - Synchronization: I got it on the Port with MPC1000
Machine Control: Enabled with the MPC 1000
MIDI Studio: Not sure, but it shows the MPC hooked up with the MBOX (Doesn't Say actuall MPC 1k)
Beat Clock: MPC 1k is enabled

SO! With all that said, fill me in, if ANYONE on this forum spots anything out of the ordinary, or is curious to see other parameters, please.... PLEASE, help a newbie out...

I'm desparate at this point.

Appreciate it guys!

Btw, don't hit me up if you happen to be a weird kid from Texas with a screen name like "GrindinOn" or some gay shit like that. Thanks!

That sounds to me like you have everything hooked up correctly. And i'm assuming when you said "the out of the MPC to the in of the MBOX, and the out of the MBOX to the in of the MPC," you were talking about MIDI cables correct, not audio cables...?!

If so, then you should be all set. You said you already have the MPC set up as a MIDI device in PT, so once you have it all hooked up as you say you do, just record arm a track, hit the space bar and PT will tell the MP to begin playback and the audio from the MP should be going right onto PT.

It's really just as simple as that. Give this a try and let me know what happens. If you still have problems i'll see what else i can do for you.

Whats up man,

So yeah, I was talking about MIDI Cables, do I need Audio Cables going in and out of the MBOX/MPC?

Ok, so I pressed space bar, and it triggers the playback on the MPC fine, like I can hear it playing, it's just not recording the audio from the mpc... to PT. and yes, I armed the tracks....

So what else is there man??????? Please, this has been such an issue the past week, like, I just want to know what I'm doing wrong, ya know?

Alright man, appreciate the help, you're the shit...

Get back, ASAP.

That because midi is NOT AUDIO....midi cables only send midi meassges....Not to diss you but you are a Full Sail student and you didn't already know this?!?!

You need audio and midi cables to sync and record properly!!!!

By jcbrivers Wed Nov 08, 2006 1:37 am
MIDI doesn't pass audio. YES... you do need 1/4 inch audio cables running from the 1k to the preamps on your MBox. I'll assume you haven't made it to your MIDI class at FS, so I'll school you a little bit. It's important to distinguish between "clock", which has to do with digital audio and is irrelevant to syncing an MPC to PT, and "sync" which is what is used for this kind of operation. The only setting you need in PT is Midi Beat Clock (Setup>MIDI>MIDI Beat Clock and "enable MIDI beat clock for" whatever midi port you're using..... you don't even need to configure the "midi studio setup" as long as you know what port the MPC is connected to. All those settings in the peripherals menu are not necessary. I don't mean to sound like an a$$... I went through all the same sh*t when I was getting my rig up and have since shown madd FS students how to do the same thing. Once you figure it out, you'll laugh at how easy it is................... holler back if you still have problems.

Exactly what ^^^ they said my man, you need dual 1/4 TRS cables to get the audio from your MP to the MBOX. I never mentioned that part because i assumed you knew that.

Make sure you check your MBOX's manual for which of the audio inputs is your left and which is your right channel. I know for the MBOX 1, the top audio input is the right channel and the bottom audio input is the left chennel. I'm not sure if it's the same on the PRO, so you might wanna double check that. Once you get all that together you'll be good to go...

WOO HOO!

I got it ya'll, it is not reading my tracks....

Beautiful thing...

I just want to thank everyone on this forum that has taken time out of there schedule to assist me in this process.

Yes, everyone see's that I am a Full Sail student, and no, I haven't gotten to the MIDI month yet... But once I learn everything, instead of me asking the questions of here, I'll be assisting.

Thankyou again, this is amazing. haha

What up,
So basically, I've ReWired Reason with Pro Tools, inorder to track my beats from my MPC.

Now once I get it in the Pro Tools DAW, I can actually see the MIDI Implimentation getting recorded, I just cant hear anything once I turn off my MPC???

I mean, is that how you do it?

How do I go about hearing the actual MIDI Notes from Reason? CAuse afterall, that is my Sound Module, and I see i got it plugged in as an insert and everything...

Please Help.
