I find it a bit weird when people sample quite new stuff, e.g the rza and sole have both sampled portishead, which is pretty current.
is this cool?
which portishead track(s) did they sample? and in which track(s) ? i love portishead, i love sole and i like rza
funny thing is.. portishead sampled a lot too .. so maybe they sampled like i donno.. isaac hayes and maybe you thought they took it from portishead who took it from hayes´ ikes rap.. which is glory box...?
here's a brief answer, I'll give you a longer one if you need it when I'm at my own pad and I can get the records out.
they're definitely portishead samples, because they're both vocal loops, rather than instrumental bits, although it does make sense I could have got confused, cos portishead do sample in fairness, I should have mentioned that.
sole samples it on selling live water, about track 3 I think, its the obvious vocal sample in the middle of the song.
as for the rza, its a more background loop as part of the beat, and as I recall it's on birth of a prince, and it mentions it in that link in the OG sample blog thread. check it out.
