MPC1000 .pgm & .seq compatibility??? don´t think so...

Well, first of all:
what´s wrong with the search engine? anyway,

One of the reasons ´cause I bought my 4k was the "compatibility" with my old 1k.... I tried to load my seqs and pgms and the 4k says: "Bad file format 405". What the hell is it? I thinked that maybe my seqs and pgms (created with OS 2.10) was damaged or something so my next step was to create a new pgm with a couple of samples using BlueBox, but when I tried to load it, the same error again.
I know that it isn´t a hard drive bug because I tried to load both from HD and my USB pendrive, even from my computer using aksys, so:
Is there any method to convert 1k pgm & seq to 4k format???

Thanks for bringing this up. We're on the same boat as I've been having the same problem with my MPC 1000 programs when I attempt to load them into 4000. I'm under the impression that 1k programs aren't compatible with the 4k. If that's the case, I think there should be an OS upgrade for the "flagship" 4k to include compatibility with MPC 1k programs. I've got rid of my 1000 but still have the programs/seq data that I'd like to use on my 4000. I'm thinking of just getting another MPC 1000 and using it as a scratch pad because I miss it's portability. I wonna use it along with my 4k. That's why it would be great if the 4000 could accept 1k programs and sequences. I could then take nice beats or ideas that I might come up with on a MPC1000 away from the studio, and later finish them up in the studio with the 4k as well as my other MIDI keyboards and synths I'm sequencing.

Exactly the problem I have trying to load MPC500 programs into my MPC4000. They're just not compatible. I sent an email to Akai ([email protected]), but never received a reply. I'm sure they got it though. If more people write to them about it, hopefully they'll release an OS update that allows the MPC4000 to load programs from the cheaper units including the MPC1000, 2500, 500 etc.

It's annoying. The only solution I can think of is to create all my programs on the MPC4000, then load them into the 500. So there's identical programs on each machine. All Seq's And songs files won't work either. I assume that individual sequences would work, but haven't tried it yet.

List of mpc4000 features is just a list of lies!
My solution is manual convertion of pgms to akps with blue box, aksys and my mouse.... You can export mpc1000 seqs to MIDI and then import in 4k, that´s what I´m doing now.. any more idea?
