just for those who didnt know already.

This is according to AKai Pro website (old hardware archive) and Sound on Sound MPC 3000 review

so if you want that nice sound, i realised yuo can cop a second hand S3000 and use it with ure MPC 2000/xl/1000.

Or just buy an Mpc2000xl as it has the exact same sound as an Mpc3000!

By jigginz Sun Feb 29, 2004 2:28 am
Oh, and the Mpc1000 thinking about it!!

By mpc3000 Tue Mar 02, 2004 5:05 pm
"The MPC 3000 actually has a S3000 sound engine!!! "

The problem with people saying this is that they are not stating what they mean when they say `sound engine`. Please do not repeat anything that you do not understand.

There is a lot more to the S3000 than what you find in the MPC.

MPC3000 MIDI PRODUCTION CENTRE

Who hasn't heard of the MPC3000, the machine that made whole genres of music possible?

As the successor to the now legendary MPC60, it offers 16-bit stereo sampling with the S3000 sampling and synthesis engine at it's heart. The sound, the rhythmic feel - in fact the way everything comes together makes the MPC3000 completely unique. An instant classic in the MPC heritage.

By popular demand, a special Limited Edition was re-released in 1994.

Id o not disagree with your simple quoting, but I do know that the Akai site does not say:

"if you want that nice sound, i realised you can cop a second hand S3000"

While I do agree that the hardware is identical, there are many, many more features in the S3000 (and even the S2000) sample `engine` that the MPC series does not have. I can make the S2000 do things to a sample (filters, envelopes, EQ, looping, layering, etc) that the MPC could only dream about.

The result: MPC3000 does sound like a S3000, but an S3000 does not sound like an MPC. In other words, many of those things you hear a properly utilized S3000 do cannot be recreated on MPC.

nor do i care Mr MPC3000.

i can do more sound shaping using just 5 of my favourite plugins in logic pro 6 than an S3000 and mpc put together.

even my software sampler beats the living day lights out of the Akai range of samplers.

but again, please dont quote on silly words.

as for my statement on sound, well akai dont need to make it any more obvious. But if u use your plank between your ears, you will see what the akai quote is getting at.

'The sound, the rhythmic feel - in fact the way everything comes together makes the MPC3000 completely unique'.

i never stated that the MPC 3000 has the same sampling capabilities.

Eat your words up b4 someone does it for you.

the MPC 4000 does all the above...and i beleive that i have just used the word MPC.

oh...no...wrong again mpc3000.

why do you reply to my posts when you know that you have very little chances of always winning. i understand you know your mpcs very well, and i respect that, but you are not the only one who has knowledge.

You orginally mentioned the MPC3000 and S3000. Why change your arguement to something that has no bearing in this issue (software plugins)? You started this so I think it's only right you stick to your starting statement and build your debate on that and not digress. Do you know how bad you make yourself look when you do that?

To be honest, i don't really care how bad i make my self look. this is a virtual forum, not the houses of parliament.

my argument about software plugins was founded after MPC 3000's childish comments on how better (than an mpc) he can change a sample with a S2000.

but my original topic was Not, and had nothing to do with debates, open opinions, etc, etc. it was a closed statement for people who are unaware of what is inside the mpc3000, for newbies, mpc1000/2000(XL) users who could not afford an mpc 3000 (nor find one in the market), but wanted its sound.

thats all.

now if i made myself look stupid by replying back to uneccessary idiotic replies on a thread that i originally started, then i must say you as a moderator Lampdog aint doing ure Job as u should do.

my suggestion to you Lampdog is to read others posts and then make your final arguments, as apposed to biased replies based around protecting your freindship(s) with others.

OK, so lets set your plugins and my S-series aside for a moment.

"it was a closed statement for people who are unaware of what is inside the mpc3000, for newbies, mpc1000/2000(XL) users who could not afford an mpc 3000 (nor find one in the market), but wanted its sound."

Well, that does not make sense. Didn't you also quote:

"As the successor to the now legendary MPC60, it offers 16-bit stereo sampling with the S3000 sampling and synthesis engine at it's heart. The sound, the rhythmic feel - in fact the way everything comes together makes the MPC3000 completely unique. An instant classic in the MPC heritage."

You lived by the quote, now you can die by the quote. You want to use that to support that you can get the MPC3000 sound with an S3000 when the ad clearly states that the MPC3000 is `unique`. So tell me, is the ad true or not?
