If you got a bass sample that hits but dosen't sustain long enough.
what type of tweaking to really make the bass have that "boomin"
sound.

think Outkast (The Way You Move)

I got a lot of 808 Samples already on hand, I am just editing some stuff in Sound Forge tweaking sounds to see the different variations of the bass response i can come up with.

You could never have too much, BASS!

Open the bass sound in a wave editor or you can use the 2kxl wave editor if you are brave enough and are confident enough (I am :D ).

Find an area of a 2-10 cycle a little after the initial attack of the sample and loop it.

Play around with the loop start/end until is starts to sound smooth with no clicks when looping. When you get that smooth sound you have probably found or are very close to finding the zero crossing point (this is a good thing).

Go to PARAMS (shift - 6) and play with the decay, attack start/end settings.

I do this sometimes and it always comes out good for me. But I've been doing it for a while now, even on my Triton and ASR.
