quicker chopping

Hey,

does anybody know something about a free chopping program on the internet? some links or names? I have heard from someone about a free program that is easy to use and compatible with the mpc 60. I am a proud owner of a akai s950 since a couple of days and would like to try that out. It's not that i don't want to spend cash on software, but the guy was very experienced in music and very enthousiastic about, but I forgot the name does anyone have a suggestion?

but then you have to get into file conversion which is a whole chapter by itself...

can people not stay away from the computer when they make music?
if you must, just chop in cooledit and record each section into your mpc
i do this on rare occasion when i already have the sample recorded onto my computer

it's not terrible to chop things up by ear, I agree, but when my mpc started to do weird things , and I had not much money to spend, I bought a atari 1024 st with cubase 3 and a s950. Computers and even the mpc's have their strong and weak points as it comes to sequencing. I did'nt like the sound of the mpc 2k xl by itself, and I have no fx, so I bought a akai s950 after trying it, and I like it. but the memory of it is only like 750 kb. when the memory is full for 80% I find it very difficult to sample something, because you have then only like 2 seconds, and you have to be very precise when you hit record, to use the full 100% of the memory.
I could save each separate sample on disc, and clear the memory to have more time to record a sample, but I think this could be a waste of time, since it could be done more efficient, in my opinion.

Recycle works & if you have SCSI on your computer (hard to think you would now!), you can bounce it from Recycle into your S950 via SCSI.

SCSI on a 950 is very hard to find.

are you thinking of mpc-editor?

use the 3000/60 chop shop function. HELLO!

scsi transfers from a pc to 950 cannot be done
