co-signing this, even though my black 1k has no issues (yet)

would be great if the new pads were less stiff, had a more even velocity response, were available in black, and no more than fiddy bucks

I dont own one, and dont ever plan on owning a 1000. But imma have to agree and say Akai needs to get their shit straight and make a pad design like the rest. The button shit was stupid from the jump.

althugh i dislike the idea of me paying extra for something that Akai should have done better from the get go, yes would go for it.

we'd have to be sure that the 500 pad construction is as faithful as the old style 2000 pads and such. thats the only way i would ever buy em.

wouldnt they have to supply sensors/graphite sheet too? is that what you get now if you order the 2kxl pads from vst?

Although I don't currently own an MPC1000 yet, I'd say count me in too. I plan on getting one soon. If a new pad design is something that will benefit MPC 1000 owners and make the MPC 1000 a better machine, I'm always in for it.

Yeah, they would need to design a new PCB, (similar to the 2kxl) with the sensors (which can mount on the metal plate), as well as a similar one-piece rubber pad sheet. So when the rubber pads wear down from many years of heavy usage, they can be replaced just like the 2kxl. The same would apply for the sensor PCB if needed as well. But we need a durable build on the Pad Sensor PCB that will hold up as long as the 2kxl and similar models.

In a nutshell, it would all be the same exact design as the 2kxl... only scaled to size for the mpc1000. The wire harnesses would need to be designed to fit as well. But I'm sure Akai knows that already.

PS - I'm not sure if Akai can still use the same metal pad mounting plate that we already have, unless they can design the PCB to mount with the exisitng screw holes. If they can, then it would save them and us some money. Hopefully that can be done. If not, I'd still have no problem at all spending the money to include a new mounting plate if theres no other choice. :)

I AM ALL FOR THIS SIGN ME UP I just finished repair of my pads I've bought 5 new in total and I could still use 3 more. the pads had gotten so bad it was hard to finish ANYTHING iN one sitting!!!!!! I'D MOSDEFINITLY REPLACE ALL IF THEY RELEASE THEM AS AN SHEET!

seriously, anyone who is reading this with influenec.

i'm sitting here looking at my pad chasis right now. i'm at work, on the clock, but my boss is away so i'm fit to do whatever i want right now.

just looking at this thing reveals some design flaws.

the cables that come out of the pads are attached to white connectors which plug into white receivers that sit on the tan board. the tan board connects to the mpc itself w/ another, larger white connector.

the white receivers on the tan board are very fragile. my pad 10 receiver actually had a pin break while i was repairing it one time - i soldered it back together.

this separate pad thing is lunacy and obviously not a necessity if the 500 has all sensors on a single sheet. this is what we need. there are FAR too many moving parts in the current design.
