Newb questions

Hey, i've just got a couple of questions that are probably horribly obvious and basic. I have read the manual and looked around the site, if I've missed a topic that explains anything feel free to link me and call me a tosser.

1) I'm looking to work using mainly samples from vinyl, can I DI straight from my deck ? Or will I need a pre-amp of some sort or a mixer ?

2) Can i export my MPC projects/sound files to the PC for further editing in Cubase ? If not, whats the easiest way of mixing down completed projects ?

3) Very simple shit here, but I may as well ask, what type of leads will I need for the aforementioned things ?

Not sure if I can help with everything but I will add this and others can help me out on what I might have left out.

For the DI on the MPC you have to use S/PDIF cables. Looks like and RCA but it is not. You need to have an S/PDIF out on ytour CD Player or DVD (I have found most new DVD Players have them). But if you are using a Turn Table you might need to find a mixer that can take your RCA from the TT and send it out over S/PDIF. That is how I run mine right now. My mixer has a DI out and anything that run in it, can be routed out of the DI.

No true way to take a project out of your MPC and edit it with Cubase or no other software that I know of. Seeing as the MPC and Cubase are both seq. (In part) you can edit the midi information in cubase but I think that might not be what you are looking to do. I would say it looks like you are going to have to mix the MPC stuff side by side with Cubase. That is how I do it. My mixer has 24 Dig in and allows for 8 more Anie Ins, so I have my MPC in the 8 Anie and everything from Cubase comes in by way of the 24 Dig. And I mix everything side by side.

Once I setup Midi Time Sync with Cubase and my MPC (in song mode) I am able to work with the stuff in Cubase and my MPC without issue.

Thanks for your help. What I meant by editing in cubase was more like, Can I hook the MPC up to my pc, so that when I'm recording loops etc it records them in cubase at the same time.

Well I am still not sure if I am with what you are asking. It sounds like you want to look at MTC and other sync type issues. For the most part I use my MPC to handle my drum track, and some loops but I am more into using ReCy to do my Loops.

So I am not sure if I am on what you are looking for. But you might want to look at Snyc Options...

Now that I think about it, you might want to look at ReCy. It sounds more like what I think you are asking.

You can edit your loops in it, and then send them to the MPC.
