Sounds from Floppy to Cd or Zip?

What would be the most effective way to get sounds from the floppies that my production partner has onto either CD or ZIP? We have two MPC2000XL's one with a floppy drive and one with a ZIP drive. I know the ZIP will hold more so if I could even reduce the number of discs I would be happy. Is there something like an editor/librarian that runs on PC and I could load the floppy sounds in and then transfer to ZIP? Not sure of formatting etc......I have never worked with the MPC but I am loving it so far and just need to get some sounds in order. We will probably end up with ZIP's in both machines....

I would be open to getting a CD rom drive for the MPC if that would help....

well the way i get wav files in my mpc is dragging an droppin them onto the floppy from my pc.(the floppy has to be formatted first on the pc).so im sure you might be able to drag an drop all the floppy sounds onto your pc desktop then connect an external zip drive an drag an drop them on the zip.Im not sure tho,i never messed with zip disks before,but its worth a try.

Is there a difference between an MPC formatted disc and a PC formatted disc? I haven't stuck one of the MPC floppies into a PC yet but it is worth a try.....Sounds good with the ZIP idea, I just need to get an external zip drive then.

Also you might want to check out MPC-Editor. It sounds like it would help you, but you just need to make sure the Floppys are PC Format first. I think you might have an issue if they have been formated on the MPC. A PC can not read MPC Formated Disk. It is odd the way this works but, if you can not read the floppy on your computer, or if you dont have a floppy and and Ext. Zip, adding the CD wont help much.

THe trip is, you need to be able to get the sounds on the Floppy onto the computer even if you want to move it to CD. And if they are in MPC format, I am not sure how you would do that...

difference?....well in order to put sounds on a floppy to your mpc its got to be formatted on the pc first.(right click the floppy drive an select format,then format it in "FAT" or FAT16,doesnt matter really) and when you format it,it deletes the whole floppy.
so if you try to add sounds on it from your pc it might not work since it came straight from your mpc,but, if you just drag all your floppy sounds onto your pc and then format a zip disk from a external drive then it should be the same thing.so it should work.
*note,its probly best that all the sounds your transfering are in wav. file.

scrap both and get a cardreader for the peace of mind.
