For my first piece of sequencing/sampling hardware, do you think the ASR-X Pro is a good choice since it is like half the price of the mpc's, instead of spending the big cash on an mp.

I think its pretty good machine. but its sequencer cant compete with an mpc. Although it will get the job done...

it has a really warm sound..

The ASR-X PRO...............IS A Stable Machine With A Nice Sound...........
(Make sure you Have Expanded RAM)

i was thinking about getting the ASR-x to use with my MPC1000 as a midi controller (actually just a keyboard for VST shit)

should i just get the keystation 49e instead?

If you only need a controller and it cost less then what you would pay for the asr-x then get the controller.
