MPC 2500 or MPC 1000

I'm very confused about what mpc is better to buy.

The mpc 1000 is cheaper but i like the mad looks of 2500.

And searching for this 2 models i fall in love with mpc 60 but i guess it's hard to find.

Foget the looks now betewen 1000 or 2500 are many diferences ?

So 1000 or 2500 ?

Please help i cant sleep.

only get the 1000 if you are going to install the jenius os AND build a performance pad solution. if you don't want to mess with the inside of your mpc, get the 2500. otherwise, it depends on whether you want easier portability or more outs/midi and more qlinks.

i think AKAI IB-M208P is the 8-out expansion for the 2000xl

DEFINITELY get the ram, no question. headroom is real important if you want to be on the cusp of today's in the box sampling. plus it's too cheap to resist.

hard drive - very useful, i'd suggest getting a 20 gig one because i have a 40 gig and i've struggled to fill 5 gigs.

cd rom - only really useful for disposeable medium. if you have a 2500 the odds are you have a PC next to it w/ a cd player you can sample from.

thats what the 8-outputs are for.

MPC1000 has four individual outs I think. THe 2500 has 8 outs. I got the 2500. As mentioned you will need the RAM and I just got my hard drive. You can't put a hard drive in the 1000. You can use USB for computer file saving and loading. I do USB my 2500 to my mac for file storage but having an internal I think will be better. For individual tracking out into a DAW, the best way is by midi syncing and using the individual outs. Akai has done a poor job with the 2500 in midi sync to DAW. This is the only kink in the 2500's armor to me. Other than that I love it. I've just been sequencing and mixing in the 2500 and then sending the stereo mix out to PT without sync. Then I do just a little bit more sweetening in PT. Makes real hot tracks. Don't know if the $1000 difference between the 1000 and 2500 is worth it. I guess it depends on your needs.

You can't put a hard drive in the 1000.

Most of the people who have problems with sync don't really understand how sync works..what is involved...how digital audio in PCs work...

I have a 2500, I really like it. However I do want portability, I have about two weeks to exchange it. What is this pad issue with the 1000? I don't get it. Can somebody explain it to me further?

2500 not portable!?...it freaking fits in 17inch laptop bag!. if that aint portable then laptop computers arent either.

problem with 1k pads is that graphite under the rubber pads comes off loose after period of time of extensive use, we talking years here... which causes various different anomalities, pads not responding, or pads triggering other pads. This is easy to fix by opening your mpc and gluing the graphite back, or ordering antonyms upcoming do it your self kit or simply by ordering new pads from vst.

Me personally rather not deal with any of that, I've had enough with my 1k,(it was second had or maybe even 3rd tho) shit is history now and long time gone on ebay.

nah, I had already made up my mind, keepin the 2500. Its badass. at the 1k pads though
