Unbalanced Outs, pissed off

hi guys,

I'm pretty pissed off that akai decided not to build balanced outs on the mpc 1000, does anyone of you know if a modification is possible in order to mount balanced outs?
balanced cables/jacks are pretty elementar pro audio standard, isn't it?
I have quite all the studio balanced only the mpc not (ok, a part of the audio ins which I barely use)

unless you have very long cable lengths, like in a pro studio then you dont need balanced. if anything unbalanced is cleaner as there is less circuitry in the way.

all balanced does is reject noise from long distances of cables (like 100 feet).

my individual outs kind of bleed here or there, but it's a REALLY low volume and i can always noise gate it out without screwing with what i wanted to record. however, if there was something i could do to fix that up i'd be interested.

the out puts dont really bother me, but id take a set of balanced inputs

you can get a direct box to run balanced.

The inputs are balanced.

maybe you have a correct gripe about the output level at -10 vs +4. but unbalanced is fine with short runs.

1. buy a stereo DI if u are paranoid, but there is no reason to fear unbalanced.

if you took their option 3 with cable connection #13, you could just tap the ac for its ground, like a nintendo adapter does your cable tv, and stick a 3 prong wire out into the mpc. this is really simple actually. just need 2" of ac cable and a male AC receptacle. 2-8 audio male 1/4" plugs & 2 or more of those fancy neutrik xlr 1/4" combo sockets.

ill be damned, thanks for correcting me instead of just sittin n gigglin at my ignorance.honestly never even tried a trs in it. i popped open the manual to see if i ignored it or was just stupid, but from looking at illustrations they show the same ts' on all the ins and outs. that makes me feel a tiny bit less stupid but im drawing another line on them now. very happy to have this knowledge tho thanks m

I know that such box exists I was thinking to an internal mod so that I don't have to carry around more boxes when playing live

if you want to poke around inside you can possibly ground the connectors yourself.... that is if they are 3-pin on the inside which is unlikely. you could very easily build a 2->3 pin audio connector check the Rane doc i posted above. it's only truley balanaced if pin 1 goes right to ground though.
