'props indeed. unfortunately, i can't sit here and wait.

if akai comes up with something ill do it. meanwhile, it's time to get creative.

i will document in a "how to" what i do.

but dammit this cannot stand. i'm actually insulted by the poor design of these pads. compared to the rest of the machine, which is great

4 dots of glue? come on. if the machine was tested at ALL rather than just pushed out of akai's birth canal, they would have found this to be a problem and addressed it before mass production.

however, the more i think about it, the more i think that a REAL DIY mod could easily create a permenant solution which needs no upkeep. not just regluing the graphite, but a fullscale reworking of the design.

not for the faint of heart/still-covered-by-warrantee folk.

see my new post.

Its a slap in the face that Akai designed new pads for the mpc500 and abandoned the mpc1000 users.

I fear Akai won't do anything anytime soon

I dunno, VST or a third party company could take it in charge

Id pay a couple of hundred bucks at least to get a full new pad setup. Ants soloutions, allthough looking great would prob be beyond me and my tech abilities. It wouldnt need to be Akai at all either, Id happily pay someone else for this even if it was a fairly home made job. Its just teh dumbest thing everyone i knwo with a 1k has dead pads. jog wheels that moove around too.

a couple of hundred is way to much!
$100-$125 tops would be acceptible, as long as there's no design flaws.

Yo sorry man. im in Australia didnt think at all. 200Aus= 130Us But honestly was trying to push it up a bit all these dudes saying theyll pay 40-50 tops. Not going to happen. Akai dont care about our workflow been stuffed (unfortunatley) they only care about $$$$$$$. Especially for a whole new setup. I remember reading omewhere th eprice of new pads on 2000 and it was over $100. if we want that quality we will have to pay. i couldnt sell My whole MPC for $50 at the moment with my pads. UUUNNNGH *****. Second whoever said new pad design or im never buying Akai gear again.

Considering the currency conversion, I agree with you on a fair price... even at $130 USD. It wouldn't be fair to all of us if Akai tried to make us pay an over-inflated price after knowing the original design was flawed.

I've owned my MPC for as long as you have, and I've had my share of problems as well. So I can totally understand your frustration. I won't go into details about everything since I don't want to turn this into an Akai-bashing topic. So as of recently, I'm willing to be more diplomatic and hope that they can come through with better solutions for all of us.
