mpc 2k classic not reading zip in scsi

don't know why and have no clue on where to begin

do the zip disks have to be formatted or something? or is it a faulty scsi wire?

any help would be appreciated

try a search first becuse zip drives. disks etc have been discussed heavily--and if you cant find the answer, come back and explain exactly what your unit is doing...

thanks for replying, i've searched for answers but a lot of those threads are filled with sacrcasm and the sort.

the zip is connected to the scsi, and when i go to save the work, the mpc searches for the zip but then freezes at the screen which says "Wait..." or something.

it's like it knows something is there, but gets stuck trying to figure out what it is.

do i have to format the zip disks? if so, how? or is it something else?

do a search for "SCSI ID" and "TERMINATE SCSI PORT"

Basically tell us what the 2 little switches on the back of your zip drive are set to.

your fuse is blown that is why the mpc cannot enter the zip drive, you need to replace the fuse in your mpc. This same thing first happened to me when I got my mpc, sall good costs like 20 buks!

viewing mine from the back :

the left SCSI port says ZIP above it and a tiny switch to the right says Termination Off-0 and On-1

the right SCSI port has a a diamond shape symbol and says SCSI ID

I have saved 16bit wav samples from my PC onto a zip disk that I formatted on an external USB ZIP Drive.
Then I put that disk into the external SCSI ZIP Drive but the Akai doesn't recognize. I also get the Wait....... message.

is it the Akai or how I have it set up ? or the user itself ha ha ha

I know what values you can set them to but I would like to know what scsi Id you're using and what termination setting. Are you using the 2000 or the 2kxl and do you use folders? The better the info the easier it gets to answer a question.

All I know is I have the MPC2000 - don't understand about folders yet .
I also don't understand which SCSI ID or Termination is on the back of my zip drive. I will do some more research on these and come back - thanks for your response

well if you have the original 2000 folders wont work for you
