i was wondering if the mpc1000 can play the whole sample with just one button but has chops at the same time. the section i'm talking aobut is between 53-56 seconds. he plays the whole sample by holding one button but it has slices also. does this make any sense?

i can't tell if he is only hitting one pad. i dont know how that would be done on the 2k, but on the 1000 u can sample ur work from a sequence to a pad, cuz it can sample its own output.

couldnt you just assign the whole sample to one pad and then have the chops assigned to other pads after doing what juxt said ?

unless i'm not understanding your question :|

he just has his pads set to "note on" instead of "one shot."
so when he holds the pad down its the longer sample.
the slices you are hearing on that same pad are from him tapping the
pad so you only hear the beginning of the sample (rather than holding it down and hearing the whole sample).

if you watch the video again you can see him holding down the pads
when he is doing the sequence (rather than just tapping the pads
like you would if it was set to "one shot").

hope that was the answer you were looking for...

ahh ok, well punch seems to have answered the question then, but incase that still doesnt answer it,.....

you can get two sounds from one pad by having two samples layered on the pad. then you change the ranges of them so one is triggered when you hit it at full level and the other while you hit it lower.
