Akai MPC2000xl Special Edition 3

Hello 1 and all,

The above interest me as my 2000 has died on me which gives me an ample opportunity to upgrade myself.

Thing is "Iomega Internal IDE 250MB Zip Drive (black) - reads 100MB as well as 250MB Zip Discs."

I have a world of 100MB disks courtesy of my external zip drive. How reliable will the 2000xl read these.... 2 the point I can load 'em up and get busy?

Anybody who has moved on from a 2000 upwards with external scsi zip drive to a 200xl and beyond, let me know, please.

I got the Mpc2000xl SE3 with a Internal Card Reader Works and looks very beutifull....

Backing up and upgrading to a card reader does make sense... but for your original question, a 250 disk will read 100 disks with no problem. It actually will read and write to the 250MB disks much faster than the 100s, in fact, it may actually be slower with the 100s than a 100 drive. If you still have your external 100, you can still use that with the XL with no problems. That way you could upgrade to an internal card reader and still read zips from the external. I also had an external and internal 250, and I haven't touched them since I went to memory cards.

PS: the SE3 is the best looking XL
