say i have a track where the samples are on 5 different pads. is the best way to track this all at once is to highlight all of the pads when in the mixer mode and choose the same out? or is there a simpler way to do this? (not really hard but easy to forget a pad) and i know that i could use the stereo out, but if i have say 3 tracks with multiple samples throughout the pads, i won't be able to track them at once.

The mpc2500 has 10 outputs(8 plus L & R Stereo OUT). Assign the pad(sound) to an output then track it out. Depending on your soundcard will determine also how many tracks u can track at once. Cause if u only got a soundcard with 2 inputs then thats all u can track out from your MPC then.

But its real simple though.

i know that you can assign a pad to an output, my question was what if i had a melody where i used samples that were on 5 different pads...how can i track all of those pads at once?

you can assign more than one pad to a single output...
