What should my website have?

I'm having my Mixtape Desginer Do my website up...

what should my website have I'm going to have the hompage play one of my beats and I'm going to have a page selling my mixtapes and A page with my beats for sale with like a 30Sec preview in Lofi....

everything will be able to be bought Via Paypal and I will have a contact page...

anything else I should ahve besides pics?

Add a "suggestion form" so all the visitors to your site can leave some feedback or suggestions to make the site work better.

What should you have on your site? There are probably too many things to list. If your purpose is to get exposure, advertise yourself, and possibly make some online transactions; here are some suggestions.

Use Macromedia Flash to create an audio player. This means you could have the best quality sample you want playing and you don't have to worry about your beats being downloaded.

You might look into having a blog (wordpress.com) and making daily entries to it. This will allow your fans or admirers to check you out and give them insight into your word.

I would recommend using Paypal as your merchant account. They have a very low fee per transaction especially if you're not doing huge volume in sales.

It is very easy to setup paypal to allow for digital downloads. This is something I do on my site. After someone checks out through Paypal, they are re-directed back to my site instantly and the transaction is verified giving them a download link. People don't like to wait for their product!

I could really carry on for a long time, but this is what I would recommend. Keep it real simple. Don't get carried away with making your site flashy. Keep it simple and keep the navigation simple. If you're selling your beats, make that very visible.

There is so much information out there on what visual elements people need to see that helps conversion (making a sale). But the more reputable you can make your site, the more people are willing to make purchases.

I work for an internet marketing firm in Boise, Idaho. I work on this type of stuff all day long. And then I go home on my own server and work on my sites.

same idea. but google isn't charging merchants until 2008.

soooo, u don't pay any fees, and remember - with paypal -

they are NOT a bank. just a company. read their disclaimer/statement.

i recently sold 7 ps-3's on ebay -

turns out it was a high risk item, for fraud... i mean, i had my cousin wait in line for 7 days in jersey (i'm in cali - i know, i'm cruel)... sold 7 of them...

ebay suspends accounts.
demands payment.
no recourse.
(this was done to most everyone who did this)

paypal makes us jump thru a ton of hoops to prove we had the units and sold real units...

sent receipts.
tracking numbers.
they called and checked with all customers.

then i get an email from them saying that we are parting ways, because i'm a risk to business.... no recourse available -

worst part?

close to 20k in my account from cd/merch sales and of course ebay sales...

they keep it for 180 days... it basically turns into interest off of our money.

so yeah, heads up to all you that sell over the net. use your own merchant company that handles cards, or google checkout (it's free until '08, again).... and steer clear of paypal, unless you don't mind having your acct possibly held-up/frozen.

excuse the rant, but i'd rather save all of you with the problems... i was a loyal user for over 8 years - and thought it was all good... found out i'm not the only one... so check the links, and always protect yourself.
